So I get up this morning to go to the gym and I am greeted with "Parking Brake LImited Function Service Required". I put the key in and turned on the truck and I get:

  • Parking Brake LImited Function Service Required
  • Lane Keeping System Off
  • Pre-Collision Assist not available
  • Service AdvanceTrac
  • Hill Start Assist not available

This truck is 5 weeks old and has 1100 miles on it. One of the 5 weeks was spent at the dealer over the video in New Fricking Truck Part I. I see ads on TV Ford bragging about inital quality. Has anyone had issues like this?

If you pull the codes, I can almost guarantee you it's failing the self check on one of the wheel speed sensors or wiring. Similar issue on my old Maverick when I unknowingly severed the 22 gauge wire "shielded" by black tape instead of a rubber hose. Built Ford Rough. 😉

Hopefully this is the only sequel and it doesn’t turn into a Fast n’ Furious-length franchise.

This happened to me once after not driving the vehicle for a week. Alert didn’t show up again after I turned the ignition off and on again after (I don’t recall if I disconnected the battery for a bit but unlikely)

2nd the wheel speed sensor comment from bgn.. that has popped up a couple times on the forum here. Might be an easy fix if you press them to get parts in quick

5 weeks old for you - if it was on the lot for a while before that you could get the dealer to test the battery as well

Battery test came back fine. I got a loaner Bronco Sport. The Bronco Sport has the drive door handle higher on the door closer to the mirror. When I got the Ranger back I kept reaching up on the door for the door handle.

Mine was in the shop last week for the same codes, was told the RR wheel speed sensor connector wasn't clipped all the way in and was making intermittent connection and in turn making other modules flake out and throw faults. So far, so good after picking it up Thursday afternoon👍

Odd, I had a BCM S/W update a few months ago for said Rear Wheel Speed Sensor (BCM-25.7.0), but never had a problem.
It says:
"The rear wheel speed sensor on your vehicle should no longer throw a fault code during the software update process."

How much mileage on the truck?
Right around 1700 miles and 6 weeks from delivery. Weird part was that their history showed that the most of the faults were present the morning that I test drove and bought the truck, but stayed cleared until last week. Truck was purchased at a out of town dealership and I had the repair done at my local dealership.

How did they isolate the RR speed sensor? I have not gotten clear information on what error codes are present or are not present.

BTW, interesting info. The dealer opened a case with Ford. I have the case number and called Ford and asked for a copy of the case results. They asked for my name, address, phone, email and maybe the last 4 of my SSN. After that they said that was between the dealer and Ford and could not be provided to me.

Reading the order again it was the LR wheel speed connector connector. This is directly off of the work order. Whatever they did, the issue is still fixed
