It is showing in my App under recalls. When I run my VIN on NHTSA and Ford Recall site it comes up as well. It is odd no span of production dates.

Of course but I’d rather be proactive and make sure it isn’t loose and end up in a ditch waiting for repairs.

NHTSA was just updated with the document that lists build dates impacted.

Did a little research and from what I can tell the UCA ball joint nuts have torque specs of 46ftlbs. Don’t quote me on that. Part # W717969-S440 (ball joint nut for RR) is readily available but is a single use part. Odd they say remedy not available yet. Might be more to it. Almost want to put a torque wrench on mine to make sure but also don’t want to wreck the thread locker…

46ft lbs is correct per the manual. The nut is a one time use part. If removed, it must be replaced.

EDIT, the recall appears to be for a different nut that I wrote about, I assumed it was the top one on the UCA. Sorry for the confusion, but it wouldn’t hurt to check the upper ones anyway. JD

21mm, oh yeah, this is an Australian truck. Are the engine bolts all metric or is it a hodgepodge?

The recall is for part number 7. Ball joint to knuckle connection. Evidently some units left without a nut or a loose one. Interesting doc link below describes the chronology of defect.

I read the recall as part #7 in that exploded diagram... UCA to knuckle ball joint nut.

You have the wrench on the wrong part. It is for the ball joint that connects the upper control arm to the knuckle.

Think I am as well... Born in May, and so far no odd noises up there.

Thanks for the clarification about which nut, I edited my post, I was confused obviously. To be safe I am going to delete the bogus info…. ;(
