Noticed a 10mm threaded nut on the bottom of the receiver - for an anti rattle device or some unknown accessory?

This was pretty ugly.

I ran a 10mxm x 1.5 tap in it and was wondering if it would be worth buying a stainless bolt and keeping it in there with antiseize compound on the threads, as an anti-rattle device…? I worry that the threads would get bashed and I would not be able to remove it later.

Or it could be used as an anti-theft device for your expensive hitch, it is not likely that a thief would know to look underneath for extra hardware. Comments?

Mine has a bolt and nut in there from factory. Maybe yours was lose and fell out? Or wasn't fitted from factory?

Sorry for the dark pictures. it's early morning here and the Raptor is parked in my garage

Mine has no bolt. Apr 24 build. My part number on nearby label matches OP, ends in KC. The other poster with bolt it ends in TB.

Yeah mines an August 2023 build, Australian spec. So assembled in Thailand. Wonder if it’s just another Thailand vs US assembly difference?

Since the inside threads are rusty, it means they were never powder coated. I wonder if this is simply an attach point to hang the receiver correctly for final finishing? It appears to be close to the center of gravity. The bolt sticking out could hang on a hook in the powder coating booth.

LOL, I do worry about a lot of useless information.

Fun fact, the bolt that comes with the Baja Designs Squadron light fits there perfectly. I mounted a single Squadron there for a rear light. It hasn't budged over past several months, but I have it zip tied for back up.
