I know there are many threads on this but older so posting a quick update.

I mainly just wanted to say thanks to this forum and all the input. I took my RR in for the brake recall so while there, had them perform an oil change and tire rotation. Because of what I had read on this forum, I knew to check the capacity they put in the truck and sure enough, only 6 quarts. I told the service advisor and tech. They said they always do 6 quarts, and I informed them that is for the 2.3 and 2.7 L engines. The 3.0 requires 7 quarts and showed them the manual. No questions or arguments, actually thanked me and topped off for free. They said I was the first RR they had serviced and everyone was drooling haha!!

Anyway, just wanted to share and say thanks again to you all. I learn something all the time on this forum so keep the good info coming!

Do they not check the dipstick after an oil change? Even the quicky guys do that!!
They did and said it was in the middle of the hash marks. Again, they are used to the 2.3 and 2.7 engines in the Ranger. I wasn’t upset over it but diligent none the less.

So now that it’s topped off, where is the level on the dipstick if it was in the middle of the hashes before?

What you have said only reassures me as to why a dealer never touches my vehicles unless it's warranty work that needs to be done and then triple check it, even question the mechanic that did the work to see of he's even a mechanic in the first place. Check dealer reviews folks. My brand new Ranger after I got it home required 8 oz in front differential, 3/4 of a qt in transmission, 1/3 qt in transfer-case, 1/3 qt engine oil and topping off of antifreeze. All checked according to Fords recommendations! So much for what they call "make ready"
