I understand what is suggested. The idea that there is a repair market for anything that is a result of the described "issue" is laughable at best.
Even if one is convinced that there are "dry starts", it's uninformed speculation and completely impossible to say any issue is caused by it.
Again, only operations people push this stuff because they LOVE to dogmatically say there are problems when they can't be proven.
One more question from me to you. Who are “operations people”? What do you mean? And thanks for your time and input.

"Operations people" is a general term for people who are directors of operations or build/maintain things (buildings/mechanical systems/cars...etc).

As a design engineer by degree, I'm telling you that the notion that there are failures, issues, or noticeably shortened life spans of engines because of "dry start" is unsubstantiated and unintelligent fear mongering.

Did not know that…and I have the Procal Tune, but don’t run the digital info box. Never mounted it in the truck and it’s just back in the box. Might be worth adding to the interior.
How do you have yours mounted? Or have it in your rig?
It comes with mount in the box. I have it mounted on left. The wire tucks in nicely down the side of the dash. I wire tie the extra cable under the dash.
In the menu, go to Datalogging / Gauges to select the ones you want to display.
Here's a couple pics.

In this video he talks about a pre-oiler. Note one of the first comments says he fixed his cold start rattle with a Purolator Boss oil filter.

I have read about this and tried it and what I wrote was accurate. If anyone is uninformed or chooses to be willfully ignorant then it will show.
Clear flood mode is a diagnostic feature in modern fuel-injected engines that prevents fuel injectors from spraying, allowing the engine to crank without starting. It is activated by pressing the gas pedal to the floor (over 80% throttle) and holding it there while cranking, which helps clear excess fuel in a flooded engine or build oil pressure after oil changes.
Purpose of Clear Flood Mode
  • Fixing a Flooded Engine:
If an engine has excessive fuel, this mode cranks the engine, drying out the spark plugs and clearing the excess fuel without adding more, as described by EricTheCarGuy.
    • Priming Oil System: As discussed in this Subaru Mechanics Facebook post, it is used after an oil change to build oil pressure before the engine fires, protecting against dry starts.
I've heard of that method of clearing a flooded engine. But I think if you have a flooded engine with fuel injection, there may be more issues that 'dry starting'.
I've been driving for 45 years, never once did I feel the need to 'prime' the oil, or was it ever mentioned it was needed. Your journals aren't dry after an oil change or sitting overnight. Next it will be suggested that the oil filter be filled before installing it, which will be difficult on a 2.7.
I put 360K on an F150 and 250K on a B4000. The only oil issues there were leaking gaskets.

Yep! Again, this whole dry start idea is total foolery.

Nice! And I take it, it just plugs into the OBD2 port?…..yeah dumb question. Cause that’s the only plug it comes with, HA!
And it stays put? Doesn’t rattle around or make annoying resonance sounds? Little rattles & creeks drive me nuts.
