Agreed
There is nothing in a Lariat that screams an extra $5600 over an XLT High.
I priced out the 25 Lariat vs. XLT high and it was $4,785 more on Ford's website. When you factor the cost to add the features after the fact it seems like a value upgrade. If I wanted a basic truck I wouldn't be buying a 2025 anyway, I'd get a 5th gen for half the money of the 6th gen XLT since that's where there's no real difference.

Matrix LED Headlamps
Estimated value: $4,200
The headlamps represent the largest hardware cost difference. The Lariat uses projector lenses with matrix hardware, whereas the XLT uses reflectors. A single Lariat headlight assembly costs approximately $1,800 from the parts counter. The matrix technology allows you to leave high beams on constantly; the truck uses camera sensors to detect other cars and turns off specific pixels to shadow them out while keeping the rest of the road bright. These also swivel with the steering wheel and have dedicated cornering lamps that illuminate the side of the road when turning.

360 Zone Lighting
Estimated value: $450
This feature is standard on the Lariat but not available on the XLT. It allows you to control the exterior lights—including the headlights, puddle lamps, and bed lights—as individual zones through the center screen or the FordPass app. This turns the entire truck into a 360-degree light source for camping or night projects.

12.4 Inch Digital Instrument Cluster
Estimated value: $1,300
While the XLT uses an 8 inch display, the Lariat features the full-width 12.4 inch screen found in the Raptor. This screen is not just larger; it displays more critical vehicle data including digital gauges for boost, oil temperature, voltage, and transmission temperature. Retrofitting this involves sourcing the cluster and performing specialized programming to sync it with the vehicle gateway, making it a very expensive aftermarket upgrade.

Premium Materials and Painted Trim
Estimated value: $2,800
The Lariat adds several exterior and interior finish upgrades. On the outside, the door handles and mirror caps are painted to match the body, whereas the XLT uses black plastic. Inside, the hard plastic dashboard of the XLT is replaced with a padded, soft-touch dash featuring real stitching. This soft material also covers the upper door panels where you rest your elbows. You also get leather-trimmed seats for both rows, and the driver seat includes a memory system that adjusts based on which key fob is used to unlock the truck. Visor – Driver & Passenger Illuminated covered mirrors.

Heated Steering Wheel and Convenience Tech
Estimated value: $1,650
A leather-wrapped heated steering wheel is standard on the Lariat and cannot be ordered on the XLT. Adding this later requires replacing the wheel, the clock spring, and the steering column wiring. The Lariat also upgrades the entry system to passive entry with keyless start and touch sensors on the front doors. Additional standard features include rain-sensing wipers, an integrated garage door opener in the visor, and customizable ambient interior lighting.

Advanced Smart Mirrors and Audio
Estimated value: $2,100
The Lariat side mirrors include motors for power-folding, heating elements for winter, integrated LED turn signals, and puddle lamps that light up the ground next to the truck. The sound system is a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen setup with a dedicated amplifier and a subwoofer located behind the rear seat. Rebuilding the XLT audio system with an aftermarket amp, sub, and ten speakers would cost significantly more than the package price here.

Power Sliding Rear Window
Estimated value: $1,000

Total Real-World Hardware Value: $12,500

The Lariat’s $4,785 price delta represents integrated factory equipment that you cannot simply "buy back" later for your XLT.

Just ordered a 2026 Lariat (CG, 2.7L V6, FX4, integrated step, 4X4). Coming from a Lariat F150, so I do like the Lariat's Ambient interior lighting, push button start & approach, nicer interior parts, larger instrument cluster, and B&O stereo. $2K under invoice.

Coming from always having F250's, 350's, and 150's, I was very impressed with the test drive on an XLT with a 2.3L 4cyl. Figured the 2.7L would be even better, as they have an excellent reputation in the F150.

Interesting!
Curious, how does that difference break down in Canada when the Lariat is optioned up with 4x4, 2.7L v6, a BAP pkg, and an FX4 pkg.
I am just guessing that gap between them closes by $10K or so?
Mine is fully optioned, literally every available option I could check off. Retail was $64,025 before taxes.
I paid $62,180 ($44,967 US)

A heated steering wheel is standard on the Lariat and cannot be ordered on the XLT. Adding this later requires replacing the wheel, the clock spring, and the steering column wiring. Additional standard features include rain-sensing wipers, an integrated garage door opener in the visor, and customizable ambient interior lighting.

Exactly.

Those XLT cost figures really change once you factor in all the comparable options on more even level or near as apples to apples as possible type scenario.

I was recently faced with either ordering 2026 XLTs for essentially the same money I spent on discounted and rebated 2025 Lariats and got quite a bit more feature content as you pointed out.

Don't forget the only way to get Push button start is Lariat or Raptor.
That one alone was making me want to make the effort to get

Very nice.
I had forgot about the Canada models were all 4x4.
I was off pretty much the 3K I had figured in my head that the 4x4 option would have cost.

Still, that is a crazy price discrepancy between US and Canada prices for trim levels .

Looks like it is hedged a bit both ways.
They gouging Canadians a few grand on the Raptor models
They seem to be cutting a little bit of break on the Lariat model.

For the 2025 model Lariats I recently bought here in the US, MSRP was right at $54k-$55K.
Paid 48K prox for each of them from 3 different dealers over the past 90 days.

$45K for a very similar Lariat spec is a few grand less than what they charge here in the US.

i got an 2024 tremor
This was the cheapest trim level for the extended cab with slighty more than 200hp in Austria, cheaper trims got a different center console and only 170hp with an 6speed auto or manual

I liked the way the Raptor looked inside and out. When I drove it, I didn't care for it. It seems just as wide as the F-150 I was trading in. I drove an XLT and I loved it, that's what I got.

$24,525 CDN difference is why I went with the Lariat. It's obvious we're subsidizing US Raptor pricing.
You're not subsidizing the US Raptor pricing
The price you're showing reflects the exchange rate from USD$60k to CDN$83k(at 1.38 exchange when I typed this)

Might be wrong, but I believe all 6th gen rangers sold in Canada are 4x4
Correct. 4x2 is not available in canada. 4x4 is the Only drivetrain option

RR still cheaper in the US, even with the exchange rate.

Yup, and you would have to be a madman to buy a 2wd truck in Canada, unless you park it for winter. That combined with the few grand you save initially when new will be lost when you have to take an even bigger hit on the price when you sell it.
