Please forgive me if this has been discussed before.

I got an email that my "Premium Connectivity Expires Soon" and I'm not sure I understand what I lose if I don't renew.

I was advised to log into Ford.com and learn more.

It appears that I have two choices and I'm not sure I want either since it appears that I've been using Apple Car Play for everything I could want or need and more for awhile now.

1. Premium Connectivity. What will I lose if I don't renew this? It's $10/mo or $119.95/yr

2. Connected Navigation. Is this the GPS navigation functionality that originally came with the truck and is pretty nice? The cost for this is $8/mo or $80/yr.

I'm old and not super technically inclined so talk to me like you would explain this to your grandfather please....

I don't think either of these are available to me since I have an XL. But I'm guessing "Premium Connectivity" is a built in wifi hotspot within the truck you can connect to.

I've never even tried the navigation, I use Google Maps through Android Auto all the time. Is the Ford nav any better than Google Maps?

Technically the Premium Connectivity doesn't include the navigation. When I renewed my Bronco navigation it required me to add the premium connectivity, so $200/ year. I just use Android Auto or in your case CarPlay. Premium Connectivity gets you streaming audio and video and i think wifi hotspots.

Not really. It's nice to have, and it can automatically show gas stations with pricing (87 octane) which is very handy, but after that it's kinda meh. The main drawback is it's designed to search within a boundary area of like 500(?) miles around your truck, so if you're in Denver and want the passenger to search for hotels in SLC, you are going to have a bad time. So it's kind of good, and avoids all the issues android auto can have, but it's definitely not worth paying for.

It's satellite so it will work in remote areas where you've lost cell reception

Don't waste your money. Everything can be done with Android Auto or Car Play, and they are better at it.
This is the correct answer. You don't need it. You dont need Alexa either as your car play/android auto has it own version built in (hold the talk button on the steering wheel and it will activate google assistant/siri)

From info I could find Yes, for the 2025 Ranger Raptor, you need an active subscription to the Ford Connectivity Package to use the full, cloud-based connected navigation features (real-time traffic, rerouting) after the complimentary trial period expires. While the vehicle comes with a trial, continued access to live, cloud-updated maps requires this subscription.
So $119.95 per year or $10.00 per month to keep connected navigation.

My Gaia does that already and works with AA
Actually it does not. Unless you downloaded the map hard into your phone before losing service.
I have Gaia and use it a lot. I was in some areas. Utah this past summer and did not download that area yet. I tried the one Ford provided and it worked.

Thanks to everyone for all the input.

I'll just choose to NOT pay for either service and see how it goes.

I've been using Apple Car Play and Amazon music for awhile now and the Google maps through that app and that's all I care about anyway.

That was my understanding yet last spring I was in a no cell area in a remote part of NM, had no cell coverage but my Gaia still worked with no hesitation or dropouts. I don't know why but I didn't question it.
