Ques. 25 ranger xl scratches in bed.

I havent installed a bedliner het. My bed has sone scratches on the floor fron a camping trip. If I pup in a drop in bed liner . Do j need to prep the bed first to avoid rust? If so ,,suggestions? Or just do a spray in liner. I may also do a bed mat later. I might go ahead with a bed mat to avoid further scratches, but it doesnt protect the insides of the bed. This truck wont be doing any heavywork. Maybe home depot or a little firewood.

My vote would be spray in bed liner.

I would do the spray in also. They will prep the surface so those scratches dont become rust holes later

Also a vote for spray-in liner. Eventually. If you can't get a spray-in liner done in the near future, just hit the scratches with some auto primer, lay down a bed mat, and don't worry about it. It isn't going to rust through in a few months. Or even a few years.

Spray-in gets my vote.... And then you still might want a bed mat to help your knees if you are back there a lot.

Spray in liner, period. Then throw in a bed mat and you'll be good to go.

Bed rugs are nice and easy, but only protect the floor, not the walls.
If you want to get an economical spray in, stay away from brand names like Linex and Rhino. Those go for $700 plus. The dealer did mine at a local, no name spray liner for $500.

I think you mean bed mats. Bedrugs do protect the sides.

I havent looked at bedrugs. I got a quote for Linex at $600. I didnt think it was too bad for this area. Ford wanted $1k for a spary in liner.
I asked Aliner if they took the tiedowns off for the sprayin. They said they would if they could. But I've never saw a sprayin liner where tiedowns were unusable. So this shouldn't be a concern.

I found a drop in liner on Amazon for $250,but I dont want a rusty bec. From what Ive read on sprayin liners, almost everyone also recommends a bedrug too.

There are a few options on the Bedrug now called Husky Guardian. There is an option for full coverage or just the bed portion like you eluded too.
