Does your Lariat have black or tan leather? There is a part # in this thread that has black leather headrests. I would imagine there would be a part # for the tan leather headrests unless they did not have that color in 19-23.
I have the ebony leather. But does it matter what color is ordered if I'm going to remove the covers from my OEM headrest and put them on the folding headrest? Or am I misunderstanding post #96?

Shouldn’t.

Maybe I am confused. (would not be the first time) But if you have ebony leather and you use the part # listed for leather, I don’t think you have to change the covers. I think if you had a Raptor and wanted the orange stitching you would have to switch the covers.

😂 Nope. You're not confused. I completely was overthinking the issue and conflating the raptors and lariats headrests. Doh!

Now that you've knocked the sense back into me and I won't have to change out the covers, this mod is gonna be quicker than getting the headrests unpacked!

OK. This was the easiest upgrde ever.
Ford headrests.webp

I ordered the part based on the info in this thread from my dealer.

The two boxes came literally three days later.

Stripped the covers from both the new ones (folding) and the original ones (Raptor).

Switched the cover around. Did not even bother cutting a hole through the material. You can feel and press the fold button through with no issues.

That's it. Folding headrests with the proper red piping...

Took 15 minutes at most...
Followed your lead and wish the Raptor covers went on the replacement headrests as easy as the replacement covers go on the OEM headrests, but got it done. Greatly appreciate your blazing the path!

I have ebony leather, the new headrests I picked up match perfectly except my seats have black stitching and the new headrests have off-white stitching.

Honestly, no one riding with me has noticed it, but I may still swap covers to have the stitching match.

You are welcome.. I picked up info from someone else in the threads before. Especially the part number for leather. As to the complexity of changing the covers (RR), I would it rate it easy is terms of mods. Took 15min max and yes, a little bit of effort..

Is it me or the picture but the weave on the fabric doesn’t look as tight as the original?

I looked again but it was getting dark. I will put them side by side tomorrow.
