I love my Ranger, but the weak spot seems to be the brakes stopping power, brake feel. Has anyone done a rotor and pad upgrade to something more aggressive? (Like going from the stock OE ceramic pads to metal). If so what type of improvement did you see? It seems like a front rotor/pad change only takes about an hour or so

DBA in Australia has slotted rotors and upgraded pads, DirtD performance, Nathan Dirt Derrick has a connection

IDK, at the Raptor Assult School when the instructor drove us around the course the brakes seemed to work pretty good.

I'm surprised to see this coming from a 2025 owner; the 2024's I drove had terrible brake feel but my 2025 is completely different (aka better). Before I learned of the improved brakes in the 2025 I was looking to get ebc yellows to improve the brakes, but now I'll wait until my originals wear down.

my 2024 brakes are perfectly fine. driving 10k miles already, they stop very well. even when you are traveling on highways with speed limits of 85 so you know everyone is doing 90+

Pretty sure while researching what truck to buy, I noticed the 2024 RR had the longest braking distance of any mid-size truck. I'm not impressed with the brakes myself but hey its a heavy truck.

It may be just me, but I find myself constantly having to push pretty hard on the brakes to get the truck to stop in my anticipated length, the brakes just don't seem to have much of a bite. I have a 2021 4Runner and it weighs about 600lbs more and it has a shorter stopping distance - and 5th Gen 4Runners are not known for great braking.

On the OEM tires and with some light load in the back I got some lockup in a couple emergency stop situations that was a little too much for my comfort level. After tire replacement (and ~200 mi break-in) Wal Mart back lot testing and real world traffic event yielded a satisfactory tire chirp with only minimal intervention/takeover from TC/ABS. I haven’t had any Dukes of Hazard scenarios to really work the ABS intervention threshold however, just some real Oh S*** moments I’m glad I got the tires switched out.

Maybe some highway mountaineers and trailer bros have different experiences since they are more experienced with brake fade.

The brakes are soft. The 2025 is better than the 2024. I test drove both of them. Consumer reports called out the breaking power as well.
I can live with the breaks on the 2025, but I'm keeping my eye out for after market breaks, rotors, and calipers. It's an easy swap.

That’s more about the tyres than the brakes though. All terrain tyres are terrible for stopping. Most stock OEM tyres are highway terrains from factory so makes it a little hard to compare when the Raptor comes from factory with All Terrains

And if the review you watched had the KO2s on, then they are known for their terrible wet performance and stopping. Something the KO3s were supposed to improve on
