Sooo, I reached out to customer service and this is an odd response to their posting:

“After speaking to the engineering team, this shouldn't affect your vehicle. You can go ahead and install the kit as is. In the event of CEL just let us know and we can update yours with the revised parts when they become available. The new parts will be a few months down the road.”

They sent me the same exact, direct carbon copy.

I wouldn't consider that an odd response. They are addressing the CEL issue and according to their people it doesn't affect the truck, but they'll send the updated parts when they are available if you want. What else are they suppose to say?

Per their direct posting on the website and the detailed post from Nick0188 it is an issue and they are dismissing it:

I was the one who posted on Facebook with the CEL after installing. I talked to S&B a week or so ago and confirmed with them it’s a real issue, but only on 2025’s. For 2025 there is a code that wasn’t monitored on 2024’s that checks the PCV flow.

So a TLDR of sorts:
  • Only effects 2025’s
  • Does not happen on 2025’s with the side panel installed. Will definitely happen on your 2025 with the side panel removed
  • Not an issue in any configuration with 2024 trucks
  • S&B are working on a fix, which is most likely a revised PCV plate to reduce the flow back to OEM levels to get around the code
  • With the side panel removed there is much more flow through the airbox, which in turn pulls much more from the PCV, making it think the hose is disconnected, causing a code.

I wasn't saying that a CEL doesn't happen with the 2025's, I understand the issue that is happening. I'm saying according to them it will not hurt the truck so you can run their intake without the side panel if you want to or just leave the side panel on and not throw a code.

Once they have their remedy for the issue they will sending out the revised parts once they have them if you let them know you need them. That does not sound like they are dismissing the issue to me, they are not going to have a fix over night.

Unless the issue puts you off that much and you just don't want the intake anymore and want to send it back and get a refund that's an ok response in my opinion.

That’s fair, thanks for the clarification. I guess I read it differently but what you say makes sense as well. Obviously, I would like to run it w/o the side panel but don’t want the CEL so was hoping they would have just acknowledged it and said they would send me the part when ready vs having to report a CEL first.
