Didn't realize there were huge gaps at the front of the bed until after I put the topper on (the black bracket is for the topper). You can see daylight throught the hole (easy to fix) and the gap. There are holes along the front too but the bedrug will cover them. Wondering is anyone has ideas for plugging the gap. If I ever sleep in the back the mosquitoes will figure that out quick.

I used Permatex on all the holes and that works well. I learned over the winter, there are some gapping holes along the side of the bed on both sides upfront. My next project trying to get in there to seal them too. My bigger frustration is the tailgate area…

I've posted this several times but this works well on the 2 big gaps in front.

It comes black, gray or white and takes patience and strong fingers but it seals the holes completely as in "watertight" and stays put.
Did you use the putty on the interior or exterior of the bed? I ended up using it on the exterior between the bed and cab. Bed caps weren't a concern as they are sealed from the installation of the camper shell. I did see that the installers of the shell used what appears to be the exact same silicone putty in a couple spots! Thank you for that link!

Yes, I applied it to the outside between the cab and bed

I went through almost 2 packs of silicone putty. After working it up into those holes/cracks and putting silicone plugs in the 2 round holes on each side below that area, I climbed in the bed to take a look. Dang! Light still showing through the upper front corners! Stuck a wooden skewer through and found 1 more round hole on each side high, a few inches deeper than the top. Had to hook my finger around towards the bed to get some putty in it.

How big are your Buc-ee balls? (not something I ever thought I'd ask on the internet :surprised:)

I'm in the process of sealing the bed gaps in prep for the tonneau cover. I might order some black rubber balls to stuff in those front bed gaps. I already have some of that silicone putty for the smaller gaps

I was thinking silicone but that looks better. The topper bracket covers most of the gap so it should be pretty easy. Outside I used gorilla tape for the holes.

The Buc-ee's balls are 4-5in in diameter. Have a thin rubber coating too.

Perfect for filling that odd corner opening.

I tried tennis balls and they were a bit too small to fill the gap to my liking. I have some EVA foam pads to try next...
