There's an old saying that there's no such thing as too much horsepower. (The problem is not enough traction....)
I used to believe that.
Until I drove a manual transmission Hellcat Challenger. 700 hp is really too much. At every opportunity it will try to kill you... Fun? Hells yeah!! But you need to be capable, and respect it. Screw up and it will kill you.

Compare to say, a Miata. So much fun, not because it's powerful or special, but because you can take it out to curvy road country and drive the living crap out of it. Push it to your limits, maybe even find its limits. Pure driving Fun. My 5.7 manual Challenger with the handling package wasn't the fastest or the best handling car I've owned, but it was one of the most fun. Pure grins.

405 hp in the RR is not too much power. The truck doesn't try to kill you if you aren't careful enough. But it does need better #$@&$ tires!

To be fair though, the tires are perfectly fit for purpose for what the truck is intended to be used for: Very fast off-roading.

Sounds like the article is being taken out of context as it is asking if a R version will be available at some point in time on the Bronco Raptor or the Ranger Raptor. The F-150 has the R model which is why I guess they asked. Not sure.

Widmann noted that the Ranger Raptor today "might" be a little too potent because it has significantly more power than any other truck in its class. I'm not sure what those are so can't say yes or no. But that was their point in that the Ranger Raptor has a good 30 HP over the field.

Makes sense to me. In fact the Ranger Raptor when you look at its price point between the Ranger lineup and F-150's its off road capabilities, standard options, and price point make it sort of a no brainer when comparing it to a F-150 XLT with similar amenities. It also mentioned the available tune providing the additional hp/torque. Of course 2026 models in Ca need not apply.

Sounds like Ford overshot and delivered more so a bit of a conundrum I suppose.
