I've read here that there were changes to the TPMS sensors in the later build 2025s. While installing new rims and swapping the TPMS the installer (not Ford) broke one, which is pictured below. They installed an aftermarket 433 MHz sensor that never worked, even after driving 400 miles. So I went to my local Ford dealer and bought a new one for $80. The parts guy looked it up using my VIN, and showed me a note that said the new sensor does not look like the old one (which was just updated in late 2025) but assured me it would work after driving 20 mins, no tools required.
The company that broke it installed the new one and paid me the $80 for it. They also told me how to re-calibrate them once it was recognized. But it never was detected by my truck so I can't do that, it still says TPMS fault and shows -- for the pressure. So what the hell is going on? Ford installs updated sensors then switches them out after a few months so it's confusing. It's now a PITA. I'm taking my truck to the dealer next week. I'm expecting a fight. As far as I'm concerned it's a warranty issue, either the part they sold me or the truck. The warranty is not dependent on the installer.
The new sensor that does not work is part # HC3Z*1A189*F I don't have a picture of it but it looked different than the one below. When I googled it the new sensor has the same part # as a previous version and fits 2016-2023 Fords. There is a -G version that fits 2024-2025 Mustangs so the Ford parts lookup might be wrong. Neither match the part # on the broken sensor. I'll post an update next week.
