It appears Ford made a counter offer so maybe the Company is trying to get to common ground.
As article mentioned Ford is the only one to make any counter offer.

I also see disagreeing with this statement as hilarious

“ We need to get back to fighting for a vision of society in which everyone earns family-sustaining wages and everyone has enough free time to enjoy their lives and see their kids grow up and their parents grow old”

Funny thing is that 32 hour work weeks are gaining traction around the world, including here in the US.

https://www.shrm.org/hr-today/news/...rkweek-feasible-in-the-us-experts-weigh-.aspx

They may get it. Granted, they won't get everything they want, it's a negotiation. This contract could be a big turning point in labor relations. I don't blame them for wanting their COLA increases and several other things they gave up in 2008 to help these companies survive. People used to have pensions, they used to have medical after retirement, etc... The companies stripped all of that away and it sucks.

I want my truck, but I hope these guys get a good deal.

How are you gonna expect 40hrs worth of work and only work 32 hours. Yea give them the pay increase but no way they should get a free 8hr pay.

if you don't think these brave men and women shouldn't get 30 days pay for 24 days of work you're just defending millionaires or something like that
They should but 4 day work weeks have been talked about since 1971. Would be nice but most likely won't happen. I see nothing wrong with wanting more pay and benefits. Every working person wants that. What is always overlooked is when employees are satisfied they produce a better product. Burning these folks out will only produce more recalls and a poorer product.

Defending millionaires or not I do find it hysterical how people jump to deride those asking for something better. It’s pretty shameful and juvenile to be honest

Nothing wrong with a 4-day work week, but don't expect to get paid for a day you don't work lol.

Or do it like how I do it, work four 10-hour days instead of five 8-hour days. Easy 4 day work week and I didn't need to strike or pay a racket to accomplish it.

Considering productivity goes up, sick days and pto go down, worker satisfaction and retention go up, it’s a bargain.

They said the same thing when the UAW asked for 40 hour work weeks decades ago, which is now the standard expectation for full time jobs across the board. Countries in Europe offer two months of vacation time a several months for maternity and paternity leave. Automation and technology were supposed to let us work less. Instead companies have had us working the same hours while producing more for them. Worker productivity has increased 300% over the last five decades while wages have only risen a fraction of that. Why do they need to continue to work 40 hours to make their wage? As the unions go, so does the rest of the country. You’re saying you don’t want a 32 hour work week? More time with your family?

After working 12 hour shifts 90 days straight with no pto? Ya I’d be asking for the same thing
I support labor. Hopefully they will get a good deal. Let's keep America production in America with an American workforce.

This is probably the last new vehicle I'm going to buy but at least it's made by Americans.$$$$.

Yup we literally just came off a holiday that exists because of unions. When unions drive changes in the work force every benefits. I am not sure why everyone is all about the "I got mine to hell with everyone else" here.
