I had this nice cooler with two thin walls surrounding foam. And it always leaked because the nuts were on the two different walls and the plastic walls would deform so it would not compress the gasket adequately.I ended up putting a few larger washers on the bottom side to give that added pressure to seal it. But I also like the idea of having a solid single piece to apply the pressure from the inside. That might make it for Rev. 6 of this.
I was going to do a TPU gasket and then inset it into the border of the top, but ended up going with silicone to seal it. Just put some along the edges and then tighten it down by hand, and then wiped the excess off.
i think this will happen with your design but it will be so much better than stock.
i presented some tpu inserts for the existing pockets which seems to work well. Only 2 revisions for that. A record for anything on this ranger
