Yes and so do the profits of all these companies.
Then some wonder why the labor unions want their share.
Not sure that’s true, the disastrous E cars are losing money like drunken sailors in Vegas. Supply chains have all increased costs as well…

Not sure why they didn’t go with the 10r80…
Because the 10r60 will handle all three engine choices and it’s lighter than the 10r80. Plus it’s shared with the Bronco so it reduces supply chain and assembly cost. The only reason Ford would supply a 10r80 is for the very very few people stepping outside their warranty to tune the 2.7 or 3.0, which doesn’t make them any money so why bother?

Each of us will make that decision for our own reasons.
I personally feel the cost is worth the value and driving experience and I have waited before for what I want.
I just do not want a 2.3 4cyl in a mid size pickup. The V6 option moved my interest to the Ranger.

While I like my 4 cyl Ranger the thing I miss most about my Colorado was the 6cyl.
It just sounds better than a 4 cyl with some fake engine noise through your speakers.

Honestly depends how long but I can wait and if it ends up being too long and I have to buy a 4cyl it may not be a Ford this time.

The number of new midsize trucks offered with a 6 cylinder is shrinking.

Sad as this is Cannon and Colorado only have the 2.7 4 cylinder and the new Tacoma will only be 4 cylinder.
Appears at this juncture that the Ranger and the Frontier will be the only mid size v6 but I could be wrong and if so will be corrected. As you stated if I have to have a 4 cyl. it may be another brand.
I know about the fake noise. My 3.5 F150 has fake V8 noise.

The fake noise can generally be toggled one way or another. Either a cheap after-market kit that will seal the vacuum that pipes it into the cabin, or if you get the Ford Performance Calibration tune it sometimes will remove it. At least it did in my FoST.

I'm still living in la la land where we'll get a Raptor R in a few years with a n/a Dark Horse motor

Over on 5G, lots of people have disabled the fake engine noise with ForScan. Glad my XLT didn't have it in the first place. I used ForScan to allow me to run the fogs with high beams. It's pretty user friendly.

Well October is right around the corner. My local dealer mentioned they still don’t see the 2.7 available to order in Webdo. Their guess is by November.

With the UAW strike and other issues with Ford, seems like its going to be a long wait like my Bronco took. ?

Hopefully it doesn’t take 2 years to get my XLT.

at the rate this is going, they might just have the Ford Crate EV engine as an option too! ;)

*Seriously, that actually is a down the road, back of mind factor in my decision if I buy this Ranger. The crate EV motors have already been offered to the public for conversions. If we end up losing ability to own our ICE vehicles at some point, it might be a big advantage to already have a Ford with engine bay ability to accept the Longitudinally oriented EV Crate motor with minimal fuss. Probably a huge cash Cow idea in Ford's future forecasting too...

Any news still on the 2.7? My dealer checked Webdo again and still not available to order. They said I can order a Raptor, but they say be prepared for long wait like my Bronco. It’s tempting but not sure I need a Raptor since I already own a Bronco.

It will probably be a couple more months. It won’t be a secret when it becomes available. Just keep an eye out here or websites like Ford Authority.

With the current UAW strike, and production at a standstill. I expect it to be a while still.

The ford website now says winter availability for 2.7. So my guess is now March or April until we can order the 2.7.

It will all depend on when the strike is settled.
