Rust. There is surface rust and then there is rust. The OP's issue (and others that are similar) is more significant than surface rust. Very likely the parts sat outside for a period, during the strike perhaps? The fix should be cheap and easy - good underbody water spray followed by a soda or dry ice blast. Or even laser and finished with a zinc based paint spray.

Wrong seat. There are thousands of parts in a vehicle, screw ups are bound to happen. It's actually surprising there aren't more. I toured a Ford truck plant years ago because the plant manager was a Naval reservist and at the time I was in the Navy. I asked him when parts were ordered by Ford for a given build -. when the order is placed. The line workers install what is provided to them from a "sub line," whatever part is there. Think about where the piece or part is made and it's timing .... The line can't be stopped (at $100K/minute) so the part is installed. Some person installed the wrong cover on that seat frame and the seat was put in the que. When it came down the sub line it was installed. It happens and, given the thousands of combinations available for each vehicle, the build process is a dance of thousands of pieces. They have to come together at EXACTLY the right time. Sucks when it's your vehicle and it's not what you ordered.

Noticed some Broncos were in the same boat. Makes sense since both vehicles are produced at MAP.

I took ownership of a 24 XLT with rust. I'm thinking I will own this truck for 3-5 years and figured it will likely not affect me. Blend date is 1/22.

PS, there's also rust behind the glove box where the cabin air filter is.
