Bringing this back up. I bought some auto weather stripping to seal the bottom of the tailgate to the bed. Besides the holes in the bed rail, anyone figure out a decent solution for the tailgate sides and the two large holes at the front, top corners? I read somewhere those are pretty big sources of dust intrusion.

Bed is about as watertight as it's gonna get right now. Here's the water intrusion after the thunderstorms we had last night. I put MD auto-grade weatherstrip (Lowes) along the trailing edge of the bed and along the taillights to just below the latches, and another along the bottom of the bed. Also shoved some pipe insulation (aka pool noodle into the holes in the upper front corners of the bed. Gaffer (gorilla) tape on the bulkhead holes, and a MaxMate ($150 amazon) soft tri-fold tonneau. I don't recommend the cover as the clamps are at an angle and you have to cut the bed rail caps to clamp it to bed, but it works for occasional use.

Noticed I have the same panel gaps with my tailgate as well.
‘Seems to open and close normal.

Mine looks exactly the same as this pic.

Thankfully I have just completed the development of a kit to fix both the bottom of the tailgate and the sides. I have 50 of the brackets arriving this week and then it will take me a week or so to put all the seals together into complete kits.

I don't have any photos to share at the moment as I'm waiting for the bracket part to arrive so I can photograph the final product.
Any updates? Please start a new thread with your kit information, it gets buried in this one. I am VERY interested in buying one, but I hope the individual rubber seals will be easily replaced when damaged or worn.

Thanks,

Hi John, The kits are now out there in the wild, our only problem is keeping up with demand (we are sold out again). At this rate it will be another couple of week before we are stocked up again so I'll look into an individual thread when that happens.

In the mean time, you can have a look at the kit on our web shop but we don't have international shipping listed so I'll have to sort that out so you guys know what to expect. Our listing has lots of photos and explanation around the product. And remember, we are not big time manufacturers, just a couple of mates trying to solve a very real problem that people have with their next-gen Rangers.

Ranger tailgate seal kit

In terms of replaceable rubber sections, yes indeed they are easily replaceable should they wear out (which I don't see happening for a very long time). You will be able to source profiles locally to replace any that wear out - in fact some of the rubber we use for the kit originates in the US anyhow.

Would a clear door edge protector reduce the gap on the tailgate (same as used for car door edges)? I've seen ones with varying thickness and it is not expensive, so one could buy a couple different thicknesses to try. They put the clear edge protectors on my doors after doing the full wrap PPF. Not sure of the brand but is supposed to be UV-resistant.
May not solve the corners or top, though.

2024 is a new model year that has not been tested by them yet. 2019 may work, but no guarantee. By the way, how do you like yours? Is it water tight?

Haven’t installed it yet. Probably won’t either until I get the J braces needed to install my top. No rush to seal the tailgate on an open bed lol. Hopefully the back ordered braces come before the fall rains here in the Pacific Northwest

Anyone else notice the openings in the front left and right upper corners this bed has lots of opening to let water in.
