I was power washing my wife's ranger raptor the other day and noticed how the water and soap just went right out the back of the inside of the bed and I looked and there's a quarter inch gap around the whole tailgate. If you open the tailgate, you can see a bunch of holes along the bottom of the bed, where it looks like a seal should have been placed. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm sure the dealers don't even have an answer for this yet. I don't like this.......

This is a huge problem in Australia where a large proportion of 6G Rangers are used in very dusty conditions. The dust gets absolutely everywhere and straight through those gaps you point out.

Thankfully I have just completed the development of a kit to fix both the bottom of the tailgate and the sides. I have 50 of the brackets arriving this week and then it will take me a week or so to put all the seals together into complete kits.
I'll check with the forum mods before any real promotion but just wanted to let you know that there will soon be a solution available that is compatible with all of the covers and toppers I have researched (though some will require some minor reprofiling where the seal meets bed cover - depending on the bed cover you have).

I don't have any photos to share at the moment as I'm waiting for the bracket part to arrive so I can photograph the final product.

My XLT is the same. Standing alongside the truck bed

My XLT is the same. It was one of the first things I noticed when I bought the truck.

I’m interested. Will your product mount over spray-in bedliner? I noticed another product I was looking at won’t, which is a problem for those of us that got that done at factory

Yep, they are designed to work with a spray-in liner or no liner at all. They could work with a drop-in but you'd need to cut it away for them to fit.

I picked up the base plates today so I will start building the kits tomorrow and will take some picks for you to see what they look like.

Was expecting mine to come with this large gap after seeing it on others. But, I'd ordered it with the factory roller cover and when it arrived it had full seals all around the tailgate

In Aus, when you order it with the factory roll-top it also comes with a matching drop-in liner that places surfaces perfectly for adding matching seals. Unfortunately the spray-in and standard liner don't provide adequate surfaces to seal against.

FYI, I bought the Truxedo version of the seal on Real Truck. I was able to apply it to bottom (where the bed floor meets the tailgate) not up the sides due to clearance. Simply doing the bottom help immensely but it sill not a perfect seal.

Would I recommend it? eh, maybe but only if you're going for 2/3 of a solution. Granted I only paid ~$25 for it.

1/4".... The allowable Margin on this gap is 14mm +/- 2.5mm. The tailgate and bed are produced separately and "married" at the body shop, and then sent to paint together. Having a gap less than what you see here on these parts would be close to impossible on a mass produced vehicle.

I would like one when you have them ready. Some pics first, would be nice.

I get it and understand totally. I did production work for many years. After reading all the issues people have with our Ranger Raptors, it seems the J-braces and tailgate seal could be provided during production. At least the J braces during production, the tailgate seal should be an option, at least.

Any idea what kit they used/installed for you?
