Got sone rain today and front window started getting a little fogged up. I had AC on with temp set to 60° and I hit the max defrost button and suddenly I was getting blasted with hot air. I turn the temp knob and sure enough it was on max heat?
I thought surely that's not right so I looked in the manual and yep that's how they designed it. I guess if your up north and have ice or snow on the windshield but in the south you usually want max defrost to blow cold air for fog. It also turns on the side mirror heaters btw.

Yeah, noticed that also. The good thing though is if you press the max defrost again to turn off, it will go back to the last settings you had it set to.

This has been standard functions on fords with automatic climate control for as long as I have been driving, around 2012 or earlier.

They actually run both the AC, to dry the air, and the heater, i believe?
