BUT to have a claim denied solely on an official Ford Performance tune that was installed by a dealer or ASE tech is extremely rare, and in all his years of processing couldn't recall a single instance of it happening.
This is how it should be, and I hope that if any of us have powertrain claims down the road, they will be honored because we chose to support Ford and Ford Performance.

31 pages of replies but very few about the seat of the pants feel about 106 more torque and 50 more horsepower.
Thats what I’m waiting for.
People barely got it in the mail and it takes time to have a dealership/ASE tech to install it. It will come.

Long thread and a bit confusing at times. To have this done do I just make an appointment with my dealer? Do I just ask for the “Ford Performance Tune?” Or is there something that I need to purchase ahead of time?

No shit. I come to this thread multiple times a day and it's just people telling each other they're wrong about warranty wording. ?

I got my tuner Thursday afternoon and immediately installed it Thursday night when I got home. I’ve put about 200 miles on the truck so far, and I can say that the tune makes a big difference. I already had 10,000 miles on the truck, so I had a good sense of its power and driving characteristics. The SOTP difference is significant from every speed and RPM range. There’s obviously more power, but the transmission tune to me was the biggest improvement. I always found the entire transmission to be very ‘blah’ and uninspiring. It’s much better now!

So far I’ve seen about a 1.5 MPG improvement, but we’ll have to see if that stays. FWIW, I’m running 35s.

All in all, the truck feels more like a Raptor now. I’ve had several F150 Raptors previously, and they seemed to have a more inspiring personality. To me, that’s what the tune brought to the RRaptor.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you !!! We'll be a 2 Ranger Raptor family soon. Now I know what we're getting for Christmas. The transmission improvement is all I needed to know. I hope when I'm driving through a parking lot now it doesn't go from 3rd to 1st gear. Man, do I hate that. I also hope our transmissions can handle the torque. Did you or are you going to put in an upgraded tranny cooler ?

Got the Ford Performance Tune installed on Friday and drove from PA to NJ to drop 6, one hundred pound boxes to be shipped to the Philippines on Saturday. My take of the tune so far…. Definitely more power, and it seems it kicks in from the second you hit the gas pedal. I was able to easily pass cars on 295 with the load, but the fun part was coming home empty. I pushed it a little harder than normal to see what she had, and she didn’t disappoint. Plenty of power and the transmission shifting was much smoother than before the tune. Oh, and I stayed in normal mode for the whole trip. Normal mode feels like sport mode did before the tune. As for gas mileage, I was sitting at 17.3mpg for the last month and yesterday it stayed at that. I believe if I had driven it responsibly and without a 600 pound load it might have increased a little. So in a nutshell, I’m happy with it and would highly recommend it

Has anyone seen if they removed the 107 speed limiter yet?

That's the speed the tires are rated for. I would guess that if they remove that then they would be liable for a tire blow-out. Maybe I'm wrong.

I think that's the factory KO3's speed rating. While that's important, it's not like you can't take an S or T rated tire above those speeds for short bursts. But that's beside the point. Not all tires are going to be lower speed ratings. Shrug.

I haven’t been up to that speed yet, but I’ve seen it posted elsewhere that it was not removed.

You’re welcome! This thread has been the biggest mess I’ve ever seen…

After driving the truck several times, I can say that I would absolutely buy the tune again without hesitation! The transmission seems much more intelligent. It holds gears longer when necessary - I felt the truck often short shifted when under load - more specifically when accelerating normally or just a bit more aggressively than that. The shifts are also more crisp but not so much so that they are harsh. As for whether the transmission will handle the torque, I don’t foresee that being an issue. You have to remember that there’s a safety factor built in to the published ratings. Unless you’re going to abuse the truck regularly on a drag strip with a prepped surface, you should be fine.

I personally don’t plan to get a transmission cooler - I don’t use the truck often enough in extreme cases where I feel it would be necessary or beneficial. For the time being though, I’ll keep my transmission temp gauge on the dashboard. I do plan on a larger intercooler though. If you haven’t run one on an EcoBoost motor before, you will absolutely love it!

Have you decided on which intercooler?
I'm starting to think about it myself.

I haven’t yet. I’m waiting to see who else comes out with one. I’ve been happy with both Whipple and CVF on my F150s. This is an upgrade I want to do, but I haven’t made it a priority. Again, I may hold off to see what else hits the market and then try to pick one up on a Black Friday sale.

How will the tune you now have work with a intercooler?
Is the Ford tuner tuneable? Or if you add the intercooler will you have to buy another tuner? This is getting a little off topic but was wondering. I’m a Whipple man and Whipple has the intercooler and a tuner.
