Since it appears this cannot be eliminated via some procedure by Ford (correct me if I am wrong) - then what is your choice for an aftermarket disable unit ? The 4D Tech one seems a little cumbersome to install if your old and don't bend easily and have arthritic hands.

I used the one from RAranger (I'm in Aus): https://raranger.com.au/products/ford-ranger-everest-start-stop-eliminator

It's simple to install and once it's in, it's forgotten about. Do you have any young adult millennials around the neighbourhood that could help install it for you? Give them a six pack of microbrew beers and I'm sure they'll help out

I did the 4D. Agree with the other Stuart on getting some help when needed.

Observation and opinion only....the 4D was simple as the glove box is a couple of tabs and one does not have to pull console or trim off – less room for clip damage and a future rattle in my mind.

Was the push tab on the 4D a bit of a bugger as it is behind the plug in a tight spot, yes, but it slides right out once I found it. I did use a longer cable tie than provided to secure it, but it works great.

I have the 4D Tech, I love the way that it is a toggle that stays put. I thought it was an easy install. I have arthritic hands and don't bend well either. It still only took about 5 minutes to install. Agree with Stu on the clip, it is that it is on the backside where you can't see it that causes the issue.

Also you could take the truck in for warranty and the service department would never know it is installed.

I too bought the RA but once I saw the instructions and that I had to tear the consol apart to install it, then saw that 4D model was available that hooked up behind the glove box just like others I had installed in the past on other Ford vehichles I order and installed the 4D.

I too still have that RA setting on the shelf in garage.

If memory serves me right, when I drove a 4L Lariat while waiting for my 2.7 L Lariat to arrive it would shut off when stopped and then restart when the gas pedal was pressed. I asked the sales rep how to shut it off and he said there was a button on the front of the shifter handle but had to be pressed each time you first started the truck to turn it off. I was concerned with this as well, but as it turns out, once I shut it off on the info screen it has remained off. Not sure if this works only with the 2.7 six.

Which screen would you find that on ? Just got the truck yesterday and am trying to find my way around everything.

I believe it was under vehicle, but I don't remember exactly where. I will check tomorrow and post where I found it. Ironically, I just checked the online manual and it says you have to shut it off with each restart.

I just checked how I was able to shut off the "auto start stop". Here are the steps:
1. Open the main display which shows "radio, phone, navigation, etc. and click Owners Manual.
2. Select Categories
3. Select General Information
4. Select Driving and Operating
5. Now you will see "Auto-Start-Stop
6. Click on than and you will see an option to turn it off or on.

Hope this helps. Again, the 4 cylinder Lariat I drove had a button on the shifter to turn it on and off. I have the 2.7 V6 which allowed me to shut it off permanently.

I follow these steps and I get a screen that says auto-start-stop is deactivated when you shut off / restart the engine. Auto Hold which activates the brakes when you come to a stop can be permanently activated/deactivated in settings.

Can you post a screenshot of your display showing a SW option to permanently deactivate the start/stop feature??i belive it’s unheard of (which is the reason why everyone wanting it needs to go with HW solution to disable the feature). But if it exists, even by accident, via SW, someone with good forscan skills may be able to find and activate it for everyone!
