Anyone successfully upgraded their cluster? That's a thing I would like to do, but it's way pricey here in Brazil so I can't afford being the guinea pig on that one. ?

I guess the hardware installation is just plug and play. But what else you had to do to make it work?

I've read the whole thread. You just plugged and it worked right away? No forscan changes needed?

That's because he got his pre-programmed. Not sure why he didn't mention that. If you buy yours off the shelf, it should work on plug in, but you'll need to do some forscan. What? not sure yet. Not feeling like dropping 800 to 1200 on this right about now.

it's all written in the thread...my programming (done by raranger) was nothing else than VIN and km/mi in the odometer. as others say the VIN is not linked to the cluster in any manner, I believe raranger used the VIN to just set the drive mode.

Changing cluster requires programming and this programming is not only VIN change and drive modes. There are other settings to be programmed depending on vehicle features. And to know the vehicle features, you need to check the asbuilt values, and to check the asbuilt values, you need the VIN. So, this is the reason raranger asked for your VIN.

To learn more details, you may ask raranger what asbuilt values they have changed. If they respond, please share it here so everybody gets some additional information.

Yeah, I want to try this too, but until the Forscan process is documented better I'm not going to bother... Maybe once I actually get an OBD2 dongle and start messing with it I'll consider it, but for now it might as well be witchcraft.

Would also love to know if Ford will take the old cluster as a core... (Though I'd probably want to keep it until the 12" is completely proven to work in every foressable way.)
