Speaking of fuel can, I have spent some time trying to figure out a good "common" fuel cannister that everyone can agree on. I'm not a huge fan of the spouts that we must have on cans now. I spent 8 years in the Marine Corps using the plastic jugs with lids on them. I'm fully qualified to pour fuel. ?

That being said, I would love to hear your feedback. The NATO fuel cans are easy to come by, very cheap, as compared to some of the more popular overlanding cans on the market and are obviously super durable. Scepter, the company that makes them for the military, also makes the same can for water storage. So, building a jug mount around this can would net a fuel can mount and water can mount. One on each side of the bed of the truck, secured to the MOLLE panels would be pretty cool.

We do already make a mount for the Scepter water jugs, but it would not be a great fit for this application. We are working on a new design, specifically for wall-mount applications.

Existing mount - https://americanadventurelab.com/product/universal-nato-jerry-can-mount/

Fuel can - https://ebay.us/m/1Eteyw
Water - https://a.co/d/bhJClnT

For bonus points, would you choose the 5 gallon jugs or the smaller 2.5 gallon jugs?

Small jugs - https://ebay.us/m/nRC50t

I already use two of the water versions of these for drinking water on my longer trips, in conjunction with an 8 gallon tank on my trailer for showers / dishes / etc. I currently bungee them down either in the bed of my truck or the trailer. Having a purpose built mount would be fantastic.

I wasn't aware they had fuel versions, and I'm in the market for such a thing. I'd probably go with 2x of the 5 gallon and either use only one when less is needed or partially fill when a full 10 gallons aren't needed I'd rather user a portion of a total capacity than find myself limited.

I'm currently looking to use your bed rail system with the middle tray / tool tray, and two storage cases mounted on either side of the bed. If you design these holders to be able to mount to that middle tray / tool tray I would definitely consider picking a couple up.

As stated, I like the 5 gallon jugs, and while minor, I like to keep loads like this toward the center of the vehicle. I was already considering trying to fit my water jugs on that center tool tray area.

Speaking of, if you can get dimensions for some of these things up on the website that would be super helpful when planning things out! I am not able to find rough dimensions or recommended load rating anywhere.

My only issue with cans and the molle system is how tall they are. I put a diamondback cover on my raptor and everything needs to fit underneath it. So I’d love to have fuel on board for offroad adventures, but it needs to be small enough to fit on the panels and under the bed cover.

Thanks! I agree with taking the larger jugs and just filling partially for shorter trips. I'm trying to gauge if anyone would even want/use the smaller jugs. That size is great for water, but maybe not so much for fuel.

Would you be able to mount those jugs in the bed of the truck instead of on the rack? Each jug is going to weigh about 40lbs each and the weight is very concentrated. Having an extra 80lbs above the bed sides is not ideal for center of gravity.

We will definitely add the dimensions. We're creating data at a pretty rapid pace right now and we have to skim over some of the finer details for the initial release. We'll shore that up over time as we realize what additional information everyone needs. We're trying to keep a running FAQ for each product as well.

As for weight ratings, that's a tough one. Ford doesn't publish the load ratings of the bedsides. So, it leaves us in an odd place to specify a rating that could exceed what they intended. Traditionally, we don't determine weight ratings as we're not able to destroy a truck or rack to see what was over the limit. As the product becomes more popular on the market, we'll have strong examples of what works well. We have a ton of these out in the market with rooftop tents, which is probably what we'll say is the "max" in most scenarios. The rack system is intended for light and strong, it is not a max-weight system. Each rail weighs only 13lbs.

I agree, having that weight up high is less than ideal. My use case is generally easy more well maintained roads out to where I "home base" and then I leave my trailer and go out on excursions from there. The fuel / water containers up top was just a "getting there" solution, and then I'd offload gear, set up camp and move them inside the bed or leave them at camp in the trailer.

I'm planning on purchasing a couple of bed slides once you launch that product. I'm not sure how well a bed side mounted solution for the containers would work with the slide system. I might consider strapping them to a slide. Hard to work that out until I have them in hand and can work out the packing logistics of my setup and specific gear.

Regarding the weight rating, I was specifically curious about the tool tray and whether that would be able to hold the 100 or so lbs of 2x20L water jugs. The thought was to lay them down horizontally. They might not even fit. Just brainstorming possibilities at this point.

When you get around to it, I'd like to know these two dimensions on the Tool Tray. I'm thinking about adding it to my Kuat bed rack.

Slides work great for the water jugs. We have 2 of the Dometic Jugs mounted to one of the slides in our truck. Very happy with it.

I'll work on the other information you requested. Thanks!

I think many of these "offroad adventure" (I do not use the "O" word) rigs are over bloated.

I don't disagree, based on how and where I like to drive, but everyone does things a little differently. Some people like to be more prepared and are comfortable giving up performance for that. I tend to go the other way, less gear and more performance. I'm very comfortable being uncomfortable, but it isn't for everyone. When my wife goes, we give up performance for more gear. ??

As far as mounts, how about a bracket that sets the weight on the load floor, and uses the molle to secure the mount upright. That would limit the loads to lateral on the bedsides letting the floor take the weight. Simple latch to hold the can in.

Just finished installing mine. I will state, there is so much aftermarket crap, these panels are not in that category. Exellent fit and finish. Very light, but when mounted they feel very strong. Very Little bed space is lost, IMO, bed space will be gained using things like QuickFists. Install was easy. I did not read the instructions, so there was some trial and error.

The only "difficult part was mounting the top 6mm bolts for the bulkhead panel. I sacrificed a number of nuts to the top of the fuel tank.

I did not need the nutzerts as my 2025 has them for the front panel on each side. The bolts for the tie downs came out easy with a small impact, and went in properly. There is thread locker on them.

To install the bulkhead upper bolts an angled needle nose will help.

If you have bedliner sprayed on, get 8mm and 6 mm Taps, Starting or Plug type and be patient.

I have a background as a machinist and machine mechanic so I know how to use a tap to chase threads without ruining them.

Your bed cover will need to be remover to install the bulkhead panel.

Suggestions: Nutzerts for the packout panel attachment points.

I have the BAK revolver M4S cover .
