What do you think of the Quality of the 6G Rangers - Subjective is Ok

Dealer told me for future tire upgrades I can go to 265/70/R17 31.9" without fender mods, but I would have sworn I have 18 inch wheels. Hmmmmm.....

Robert, the only way to get 18" wheels on a XLT is to get the Black Appearance Package. On the Lariat you get 18" wheels standard. I purposely wanted 17" wheels for the availability and for the extra sidewall height which gives a better on road ride and a bigger contact patch when airing down offroad.

Does your have the Black Appearance package?

edit: looks like the Chrome Accent Package gives you 18s as well

Coming from 1985 Toyota pickup and 2003 Tacoma

Truck seems solid. No squeaks or rattles. Crawling around underneath things look tidy

I appreciate the room in the engine compartment with the 2.3l

Been happy with how it drives.

Will see how it compares to my old Toyotas in terms of reliability.

I think lite tray in the center console is really out of place on such a nice truck

I think ford could do a better job of allowing customizing the displays. Why should I need to get forscan for changing the number of blinks in a lane change? And others like dark mode and displaying tire temp.

It is an odd complaint coming from trucks with roll down windows and no cruise control. But I think we have different expectations these days.

Brian, yes to the black-out package. Here it is in the driveway and a look at the tires.

Just checked the Michelinman website. The Defender LTX is available in 16, 17 and 18” sizes. My Ranger, and my F150 are both 18”. They are NOT cheap, but worth the investment IMO.

We have the same truck! Mine did have the factory spray in liner, and I changed the lug nuts.
wish mine had the side bed steps like yours!

Good taste
No bedliner yet. It is ordered from the dealer along with some Timbren shocks for the rear.
I thought about spray in but I need the bed floor slick. Tonneau also ordered. We'll use long trays to put stuff one....need the trays to slide easily out the rear. Now I've had a drop in bedliner in my 30 year old daily drive, a 1997 Nissan Hardbody pickup. No rust...not even rust in the middle of the frame haha! And we live in a very wet environment.

I never drove a 2024 but the of the 2025's I drove, both a 2.3 and a 2.7, I didn't notice anything unusual about the braking and I am particularly picky about braking feel. Maybe it was an issue on 2024 models before they went electric on the boosters for 2025?

I've got a bit of a gripe with the seat, as well:

My ass isn't a pile of lard, so it's wider than it needs to be and, as a result, doesn't retain me as well as it should with those bolsters. Buy some treadmills, people.

Are the Raptor seats different than the XLT seats?

I'm not sure just how different the actual bolster dimensions are, but the seats themselves are different.

It's only been 4 months and 2,500 miles, but I am super pleased with my new Ranger so far. I love the 2.7, it's the main reason I bought the truck and it has not disappointed. I do hate those transmission cross braces underneath the truck, serious rock magnets. Apple CarPlay can be finicky at times. Paint and panel fit good on my truck. The bed has about 100 holes in it, still trying to figure out how to mitigate dust intrusion. Stock tires are not great, but that is usually the case.

What's everybody's thoughts on the overall quality of their 6G Rangers?

Myself - I have been a Toyota fanboy for a longtime, own 3 5th gen 4Runners, and kind of hold up the 4Runner as a reference of a quality built vehicle. It's by no means perfect but things like fit and finish are excellent and it's projected longevity certainly can be attributed to its ancient design, but all in it's a very solid vehicle that can easily take you 300k miles. (Rust a side)

So, I will say that my exceptions were mixed about what I would experience when I decided to get a 2025 Lariat Ranger (as much as I like Toyota - the Tacoma just didn't make the cut for me).

So far - I find the Ranger's physical build to be very good. Panel fit and finish is excellent. Paint is good, I don't see much orange peel. Inside the cabin, quality is also very good, no rattles, very comfortable place to be. I have the 2.7l EB and the engine is very smooth, the transmission can be a bit clunky, but livable, brakes are so, so - this is a weak point for me. The infotainment system works well (I like it) and there is no comparison to the 4Runner's - it is dinosaur. Longevity has yet to be seen - but everything being built today is so complex - I guess that why you buy the extended factory warranty.

Over all, after 6 months of ownership, I'm very happily surprised with my Ranger.

I found the fit and finish excellent. Doors all close and seal nicely. 2.7 has lots and lots of get up and go but I agree the shifting in the transmission is annoying. I put mine in sport while in down and click the shifter down to 5 so it stops shifting every 3 seconds. I defeated the auto stop dumb circuit with a 4D Tech module. The steering wheel...sounds odd but it is the best feeling steering wheel ever. My brakes are the complete opposite, very grabby to the point where I thought something was wrong. The soft drop tailgate is nice and the seats are pretty comfortable.

me too, I had a Camry in my younger years and couldn't afford breaks at one point so I used to downshift to slow me down for aprox 20k miles, the thing never skipped a beat, I couldn't break it. My 5th gen 4R disappointed me. I wanted to like it so much. it had a steering wheel shake from 60-65 that is well documented across taco/4R's and toyota refused to fix. Also (my fault) for a TRD.OF premium at 48k the stereo was actual garbage. It couldn't tow and gas sucked, also im a beach guy and after first session rusting more then I liked. I even fluid filmed undercoat the entire truck.

I ordered one because the motor is better then the out dated Mazda Gen.

This 2.3 has been well documented for reliability and is a very basic motor.

But when I drove the Tacoma, it felt like a bus

I couldn't agree more, I wanted to buy the taco so bad but my father owed fords and they all were great.

I agree, I think it's toyota trying to put everything on a TNGF platform it just feels off and slapped together.

I agree, toyota has this reputation for great reliability and service but my ford experience has been better.

unfortunately this is normal in the time we live in, even the gold standard toyota.

wow thats good to know. sounds like ford is actually listening to its customers because that was/is an issue for older models.

I have liked my ranger thus far. this gen is new to Usa but it's a global platform from Australia thats been out for a few years. I rip an 11 mile strip of beach in deep sand and this thing doesn't skip a beat (I burn about 1/4 a tank of gas thats how hard I run it and my 4R would be pissing out antifreeze). my complaint is the spongy breaks and the lack of j braces for my early year 2024. for the off-road people I think the taco is better and the ranger is built more for work/hauling heavier loads. I think people think the ranger tires are the issue but it just isn't good because the suspension is more set up to have a load. With that being said I have heard alot of the tacos overheating on trails in 4hi right now. I think the headrest curves my body to far forward. overall tho its a great truck.

Yes, the Mazda co designed 2.3L is a very reliable well proven motor. I have the Duratech in a 2011 Ranger.
Its just that the MPC motor has a few more improvements over the old design.
