My truck seems to pick 7k for its intervals.
That could be the case for mine as well, I had 7500 miles in my memory it could have very well been 7K.
Or maybe it said service soon at 7k meaning due at 7500.
I am sure I will see the messages again pretty soon, I am at 12k on the 24 model.
‘It was several months ago when I was in that 7 range. I know It was when the truck ask to be serviced that I service mine.

Modern synthetic oils should not be breaking down like oils of years ago. I don’t see a need at all for 3k oil changes now days anyway, back in the 80s and 90s sure I did the every 3k miles like most did and for good reason.

I typically choose the best oil possible and change it when the vehicle ask for it.
Like if full synthetic is offered for the vehicle as option or blend I pay the extra for the full synthetic.

I change the oil, with full synthetic, somewhere between 3000 - 4000 miles, or 6 months, whichever comes first. 10,000 miles interval? Yeah, good luck with that. And if you have the V6 with the wet belt system DO NOT GO 10000 miles, you will be doing major engine repair by 80000 miles when your wet belt clogs your engine oil screen and you destroy your turbos.

Top tier quality full synthetic (personally run AMSOIL) with Ford filter and 4-5K max. or a minimum or every 6 months even if under on mileage. Just make it a springtime & fall time routine. Do all the families rigs on a Saturday afternoon. Track them all together & none get forgotten. Mine, wife’s, kid’s, & done for 6 months.

I have a question for the group. Is it miles or months?
I use ford full synthetic.
I only put 5,000 miles on the truck in a given year. And, to be honest, they are a very wimpy 5k.

Changing the oil yearly okay?
Does full synthetic degrade overtime regardless of miles driven?
Thanks folks!

5K intervals are as much as I can mentally cope with; on my MK8 GTI I had prior to the RR, I would do an oil change every 5K and let the dealership do their 10K service interval, will probably do the same with this vehicle as well.
Fr me I like doing everything together, so I have the oil changed and have my tires rotated and balanced every 5,000 miles. I use only Mobile ! fully synthetic for years.

You should pay attention to miles and oil age. If you're not hitting the miles then every 6 months.

Multi viscosity oils use what they call plasticizers to create the higher viscosity when hotter. Imagine a tiny plastic spring that grows when hot. This makes for example a 5 weight oil into a 40 weight. It is 5 when cold and the plasticizers grow to make it thicker as it heats. When multi viscosity oils were first introduced, these would shear in the engine and the oil would slowly trend to the base weight oil and would require a change after about 3000 miles. Since mileage was the only parameter that, at the time, that could be tracked, it was used.

Modern oils use much smaller microscopic plasticizers that are not nearly as prone to shear and modern engine monitoring track many more parameters. 10k oil changes are no problem and reflect all those advances. I use the oil monitoring system as designed, so I change it when told by the machine. Why create more hazardous waste than necessary?

Before I get lit up...I had a 2005 Duramax. Towed heavy stuff and used it as a heavy duty truck, not babied. Used Mobil 1 full synthetic changed when the machine said so. Just sold it to my nephew with almost 200k miles on it and it runs as good as it ever did. No troubles at all with it. Still clean as a whistle.

Here is some food for thought guys. At one time John Deere recommended oil changes at 100 hours, the high HP turbo engines lasted 5 to 6000 hours. Now if you use JD oil they suggest up to 500 hours change interval and those high HP turbo engines are lasting 8 to 10000 hours. So this begs the question, which matters the most, interval or the quality of the oil? https://valleyplainsequipment.com/o...ere Plus-50TM,an authorized John Deere Dealer.

don't forget to do your trans around 7-10k too so you get all the broke in particles out and new clean fluid in to last the next 30k

Turbos are hell on oil. The oil doesn't go bad it just gets dirty. Have taken hundreds of engines apart
and very few where clean inside. I use Mobil 1 and change every 5000 miles. I don't care about time.

With the Fuel oil dilution from the ecoboosts i wouldn’t go more than 5k. I’ve done oil analysis on my past ecoboosts and 6500 is as much as I’d go. So i have a buffer.

Since I'm retired, going way back to when I was 16 to 20 years old (in the 70s). I think the only synthetic oil available was Amsoil, but nobody I knew used it. The most popular oil back then was 10w-40 Valvoline if you changed the oil yourself. 10W-30 Pennzoil if you had the dealer change your oil. If you were into quarter mile racing straight 30w Valvoline or Castrol.

Back then Fram oil filter were real popular. Nowadays I only see bad reviews on Fram oil filters
