here in Canada, I've found we can't buy the warranty from Grainger (or maybe we can, but can't use it - don't remember the details, just that it doesn't really work for us), and so it ends up being more expensive. I did use the Grainger quote in negotiating it down with the dealer here, and ended up paying $2k (Canadian) for 100,000 kilometers/6 years. 100,000 kilometers is not great, but happens to be about what I expect to put on the truck in that time frame, so it works for me.

For me, the biggest downside to getting the dealer extended warranty is that I feel sort of obliged to then go to the dealer for maintenance. I much prefer going to my independent guy for our other vehicles. And I realize you don't technically "need to" get the maintenance done at the dealer, and maybe that's just another "boomer scam" as one poster said, but anyways that's what I'm doing. The biggest problem for me with dealer maintenance isn't even cost, it's inconvenience since the dealer is a ways away. Anyways, it is what it is.

I will just see how that goes, and if dealer maintenance turns out to be too ridiculous, I'll go to my independent guy & keep meticulous records. I just went for my first dealer maintenance on the truck and it was done very promptly and $154 (Canadian), which I'm ok with.

I've never had trouble getting basic maintenance done at local certified mechanics, causing a manu ESP claim failed. Oil changes and tire rotations and that sort of thing.

Extended warranty is just like any other insurance. You don't know when you will need it, but when you need it, it's there.
Purchased it on the newly designed 2019 Ranger. Some reasons: if a tail light goes out or damaged, you just don't replace the bulb. And as some said previously, computers have a mind of their own.
So, in 2023 the heater control valve goes out -- passenger had AC, driver had winter heat. Took it in. 2 day project. It was explained that the chassis is built, the heater control valve is installed and then the rest of the Ranger is built around it. Had to remove the complete dash. Just under $3000, we paid $100. (we also had the touch pad replaced at the same time) Still just $100.
Yes, I don't like it, but you can't fix your own vehicles any more.

Got a Ford ESP Premium Care plan 10yr/100k, light bulb coverage and rental from Flood Ford, $2400 after using Ford reward points from buying the Raptor. If used one time it will most likely pay for itself. My dealer wouldn't match the price!

Extended warranties are expensive and a tough pill too swallow. UNTIL. Some of this uber expensive tech grenades and then that pill goes down pretty easy. Remember when a tail going out was just a bulb? Not anymore.

It doesn't make sense to buy a Ford Protect Extended Warranty till the Mfg. Warranty is about to expire, 36 mos. From Ford Protect:

Q: When can I purchase a New Ford Protect Extended Service Plan?

A: Plans must be purchased within the time and mileage of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty (the earlier of 3 years or 36,000 miles for Ford vehicles and 4 years or 50,000 miles for Lincoln vehicles).

IMO, the main benefit of an Extended Warranty is Peace of Mind. Cost of a repair vs. cost of the warranty.......big difference. And with today's vehicles, anything could go wrong.

any idea why Florida is not included in there? I assume it’s based on where it’s registered?
Certain states like fla regulate the sales prices of extended service plans. They do not allow them to be discounted.

With led tali light assemblies being almost $2000 on a raptor, as an example, and the electronics and mechanical repair costs of today, its crazy not to have a factory backed ext service plan if youre keeping your vehicle long term. It's not if, but when you'll have a huge repair or replacement bill in the future. Further they can provide for rental car coverage the day you take your vehicle in up to 10 days, which is great, especially if youre traveling. They require manufacturer parts be used as well. And ford dealerships are required to honor them.

Non manufacturer based warranties are not worth the paper they are printed on as serve as a money maker for dealerships as the markups are 3 and 4 times that of a manufacturer based warranty. They often refuse repairs,or use after mkt or used parts, etc. Any dealerships that did not sell you the warranty do not have to accept the warranty in many cases. Avoid them!!

Not that expensive if purchased through the right dealer, especially with the high costs of repairs and parts now.

In that scenario, you are hoping something goes wrong during the OEM warranty, which is kinda a smart move. But remember, regardless of when you buy the ESP, it starts when the new vehicle was purchased, NOT when you buy the ESP.

Flood Ford is cheaper than Grainger for all of the scenarios I've run along with being the same plans. I do like that Grainger is part of the community and sponsors many YouTubers, however.

Dealer is offering an extended warranty on my new RR. bumper to bumper 2900 for 6y/120K. It doesn't fire my engines, but wanted to ask for thoughts on whether this is worth it? I have very little experience buying new vehicles.

I do like the idea of an extended warranty. I'm wondering if there are other sources that are better, cheaper, etc?
IF it is B to B, $2900 is definitely low cost. Amortize that out over the 120K miles, that is 2.4 cents per mile which is CHEAP insurance.
