Hey guys, just curious if anyone has messed around with their Ford Performance tuner gauges and specifically taken a look at their oct_adjust in relation to the knkAdder measurements. I’ve got 5747 miles on the odometer right now. I got the performance tune installed about 1000 miles ago at 4731 miles. My assumption with most tunes was that not only would the boost increase(which mine has at approximately 22psi) but there would be changes to things such as the octane adjust and knkAdder. My octane adjust is just sitting at 0. Most forums I read indicate maximum performance would be around -1. Any of you guys have input on what yours says? I would think 0 indicates the truck is still learning however I’ve ran 93 octane for just about every tank since 3000 miles and definitely every tank since the tune was added which again was 1000 miles ago. 2025 Ranger Raptor

Edit 1. Looks like the Oct_Adjust gauge is indicating “Yes-No” I’m assuming based on the number displayed Yes-1, No-0? If so, I’m curious why there is no octane adjustment for mine as it says “0”. I assumed there would be timing advanced at higher octane fuels.

Plug in the tuner, go to gauges and it’s under the spark category. It says Oct_Adjust with a number next to it.

Is this something that needs to be adjusted after the procal tune? Should the installer changed that?

Octane adjustment should be 1, not -1. Older ecoboosts had inverted values.

1 is ideal.

Oh man, I got a reply from the goat! Appreciate the correction.

I’m using the Ford Performance tuner and it just shows “0” under Oct_Adjust. But next to the Oct_Adjust it says “Yes-No”. This leads me to believe that the “0” value is not actually indicating the octane adjustment level but rather if there is octane adjustment or not. Is my thinking correct there? If so, is it normal for the truck to not have octane adjustment? I’d expect, as you corrected above, for it to be at a +1.

Honestly no idea. I assumed this would be a value changed or effected by the tune itself. Goose probably has the answers to these kinds of questions though. Does your ford tuner show a “0” under Oct_Adjust ? I’m trying to see if this normal or not.

Is there an inferred octane monitor? If so it should read 98. That'll let you know it's at 1

Just found something that may be similar? Says Lrnd_Knk_Mod. Here is what I’m looking at.

Octane adj, if 0=no, may mean the truck is no longer adjusting the engine parameters based on the octane sensor reading, i.e. won't adjust timing.

What’s odd is today the learned knock modifier went from the -.87 to a -.88 while I was driving. To me, it appears like this value might be similar to an octane adjustment value indicating a certain level of performance with the given fuel, although I could be off-base on that. The truck is definitely varying time as indicated on the tuner. The question I have, is how do I know based on the timing advance number and the learned knock modifier, if the truck is performing its best or not. For the timing advance, I tend to see anywhere from 0 to -33 degrees with an occasional positive number around 0 to +5 maybe. My assumption was this number alone really doesn’t say much but that the learned knock modifier would be a better way to know. I’m curious what your numbers show on your tuner(if you have the performance tune).

Call Ford Performance technical line and ask them, you might get nothing, but you might get someone who really knows and provides good insight.
