the intercooler upgrade was the first major mod we did, after the intake, on my son's focus st since he autocrossed with it. he said he saw a huge difference in temps at the track. and the intercoolers are really not that expensive for what you are getting versus something like an intake or a cat back system. you can half ass those with independent parts buys but there is no way to make your own intercooler from stuff you buy separately
Totally agree! The intercooler is always overlooked even though on the ST models and most ecoboosts it is the single best upgrade you can do as a first performance mod!

Can you share with me the data on this stance? What is the temperature and volume comparison between stock and your preferred IC?

COBB has a ton of data you can look at on their site for this but for example here is some of their findings with the Bronco Raptor

  • Ford Bronco/Raptor (FMIC): Provides a 53% greater volume than stock. Data shows peak power increases of +11.8 to +16.4 WHP. In testing, it kept Maximum Charge Temperatures (MCT) at 125°F-130°F, preventing the severe power-cutting temperatures (170°F+) seen with stock units.

I really need to install my accessport after reading this thread. I have the ford performance tune so I am curious to see the difference.
Oh! That will be an interesting comparison. Im sort of surprised you'd be willing to shell out for both (unless you maybe eventually plan to go GooseTuned via the Cobb), but with your user reports it will benefit the rest of us. Please do share when you have some time on the Cobb.

So I had the V3 Accessport from my 2022 Maverick. Cobb said I can pay a little to change the software to the Ranger Raptor tunes. That's the only reason I did it. Way cheaper than buying a new AP.

That's my path too. My Ford Procal arrives today and if I'm satisfied with it, fine. If not I'll order the Accessport and get Goosetuned and never have to worry about a warranty claim. Just flash back to stock. The dealer will never know since I have the Procal too.

That was my plan too, ProCal first and then the truck is coded as tuned.

I have the procal tune and just switched to Cobb and Goose. The cobb OTS 91 tune feels slower than the procal. I cant compare Goose yet as we arent done with the tune. I do like how the procal shifting is different per each drive mode like factory. That is something you lose with the Cobb accesport. You have a choice of OEM+ or Sport for transmission tunning. Would be nice if Cobb could have somehow kept factory style transmission tuning that was dependent on drive modes. It also seems cobb does not allow turning off the auto start stop which I think you can do with other tunning options? Goose said he cant even turn it off. Coming from a 500+ wheel horsepower Supra tuned with EcuTek I guess maybe I'm asking too much of the cobb accessport. ECUtek had amazing capabilities for tuning where I feel this handheld style tuner lacks quite a bit. Once Goose is done with my tune I am going to try to go down to the dyno and run all of them to see how they compare.

I asked Cobb about auto start stop and this was their reply:
Hey there! From the factory, Auto Start/Stop settings in the Ranger Raptor and Bronco Raptor persist through key cycles. We do not intend to make any changes to that system.

Ugh, Cobb won't let you turn off ASS, that sucks. My current tune basically deleted it altogether, no dash symbol and button does nothing. Curious to see the dyno results!

I think most folks on many platforms view Cobb as simply a tool that a good tuner can use to make custom tunes. Their OTS maps are usually very conservative. I've used them for many cars but never stuck with their tunes. A year and half ago they reached a settlement with the government and from what I understand that made them even more conservative, which makes sense. Easy to google, nothing against them at all, they just happen to be the ones that got caught. I have no doubt that is related to them not turning off ASS, the lawsuit specifically references "defeat devices".

Thats a bummer, had i known this I would have potentially went with a different option. The gauges on the cobb handheld are not enough to make it better since most gauges I would want to monitor are already in the truck. I think once I build the truck out more I may end up switching to HP Tuners.

Can you disable ASS with HPT? I went with Cobb only because I was familiar with it from Subaru, I know nothing about HPT.
