My 2025 occasionally will make a bang noise and slightly jerk when I start the truck. It will also do the same if I go into neutral occasionally as well. Anyone experience this? Am I the next victim of the evil transmission issues…. Currently have 20k miles. Thanks all.

we have an 04 wrangler that lost reverse about 5 years ago. we drove it till last summer with no reverse. it just requires planning ahead, ha ha ha, especially when driving across country.

Now that's putting some dedication into the phrase of 'Always Moving Forward'

Yes. Once in a while this happens but the vehicle does not lurch forward. The transfer case seems to be shifting into a default position. Just a guess. Other than that It has performed as expected on the beach sand and on the road as well.

This is a common conversation point on all the F150 and Transit forums for the 10r80 for several years now. If you dig into some of the transmission enthusiast sites, there's talk of the way the valve bodies are built on the 10r series that means solenoids commonly stick. Machining variance along with very stringent fluid level requirements means the lurch happens occasionally, and more so on some transmissions vs others. At least that is what I have gathered from my reading.

The bean counter engineering department at ford needs their heads banged up several times to do a brain reset

Yup, have this issue also (among others) in my 24 Ranger 2.7 (32,000 miles). Biggest change I made is letting the engine idle down after startup. Take about 45 seconds after a cold start; much less when running errands. Just keep an eye on the RPMs... once they fall, the shift to drive/reverse should feel normal.

Have your transmission fluid checked, Ford is known to be low from the factory, mine was 3/4 of a quart low
I need to press my dealer harder on this. Twice I asked for a trans fluid change but they keep telling me "its too early" or "not needed."

This I think is a pretty big part of it. I pretty much do the same, at least for first start of the day. The ULV fluid needs a minute to get flowing before the trans works correctly I am quite certain. Another thing I read somewhere in those transmission enthusiast forums is that this spec of fluid needs heat for operational stability. In fact these transmissions are overall designed to operate hotter. It seems that means awkward behaviors when cold. Just another way that Ford is trying to defy physics these days.
