Just picked up my 2025 RR a few weeks ago and took it dirtbike/camping for the first time this weekend. Noticed that every singe time I open a door... a wad of lights comes on plus the center display. So - yea - I took a look at 'zone lighting' and that only seemed to add more lights to a door opening event. lol.

* which triggers additional questions about battery drain per - opening event....

The real question is this : is there a work around? Is there a "dark sky" mode where nothing happens when I open a vehicle door? (not sure if I missed it somewhere in the menu system)

* my only solution is to put a marine grade switch on the battery and just turn it off for the weekend. (which is totally fine by me .. however coming from JLR's LandRover world : does that trigger any satellite or "theft" messages from Ford? Or present any issues at power-up after being off for say the weekend? )

Thanks - LMK?

* if someone has a ForScan code to disable, that's probably my next mod. (I got very used to programming the Rover to curb the chime nanny.)

there is a setting in forscan to turn all that off. find the forscan thread and look through the spread sheet, thats how i found it. i tried it for a while and turned back on the lights because i do use the interior lights at work in the morning.

Yeah I'd think Forscan was the way. Also, congrats on the RR pick up!

Yeah, don't that. You'll lose all settings and possible ECM tables every weekend.
Don't worry about battery drain, all lights are LED that draw very little current. Plus, the Battery management system will shut down unnecessary items if it detects the battery going low.

Isn't there a toggle switch up on the ceiling where you can set it to on, off or on with door open?

Can't help you with the displays / dash. If you're worried about the battery, bring a jump pack. The truck does have a low power mode it goes in when voltage is below a certain level. It'll also alert you via the phone app assuming there is cellular available.

I thought the silent mode added an option to enable or disable on the screen?

I haven’t tried it yet myself.

Silent mode doesn't, i dont think. I turned off that dark mode, or police mode, but still have the setting turned on so the alarm and horn dont chirp when locking or unlocking.

afaik, all the lights are LEDs and each one draws maybe 50-100 mW. Not sure how many LEDs comprise each light, but the power draw is very small when you open and lose a door.

Apparently my truck decides to do silent mode on its on. Sometimes I’ll open the door and no lights come on, other times all the lights come on. Wouldn’t even bug the dealer, already know they’ll say “can’t reproduce the issue”

The ceiling switch does allow interior lights not coming on when you open the door, but 'm not sure about dash lights, etc.

It's more a camping at night thing - you unlock the vehicle or open a door and it's (exterior) illumination central. (yes I have my interior lights manually off ).

Not that I (wholly) trust chatGPT or Claude ... but they both point to a FOREscan solution.

if you have forscan access, you can enable police mode. that makes no lights come on when you unlock or open the door.

i tried it. to dark at 0500 when i leave for work to have no lights :)

I had it enabled via Forscan so it's an option in the center menu. I can turn it on when camping, and off if we're staying at a hotel for the night. I better check to make sure it's still there before my trip in June.
