Recall Notice 26C10 / NHTSA Recall 26V104

Just received this one the other day. It claims it is possible for the Trailer Module (TRM) to lose communication at vehicle start-up. This issue requires a software update.

Anybody else get this one?

(applicable to certain 2021-2026 F-150, 2022-2026 Lightning, 2022-2026 SD/Maverick, 202202027 Expedition, 2024-2025 Ranger and 2026 Transit)

Everybody got it. You'll have to take it to the dealer for reprogramming. For some reason, Rangers can't get the update OTA.

I still hold out hope it will eventually be OTA. The electric brake booster update took some time before it was available OTA.

if you are towing things, it would be best to get it updated at a dealer, now.

Two guys I work with got the same notice on the same day I did. One ranger xlt and one f150 platinum

Had the recall performed on both this morning. Took leas than 30 minutes total.

Dealer took care of it before I got the notice in the mail. 30 minutes.

I wouldn't wait for it, if you need it. I'm not sure where the idea came from that the ranger couldn't be updated OTA, but it will eventually be applied to your truck.

Got the update from the dealer a couple of weeks ago when I was getting an oil change.

Why? Then you are sure to have no trailer lights or braking.
Once a month I tow a 12 ft utility trailer with about 500 lbs on it. If the trailer lights don't work, you can still see the truck lights. I'm not worried, as I can see the trailer lights working, but next service, I'll have them do the update.

I got the recall and my 2024 XLT doesn't even have a tow package. Go figure.

But it still has the trailer module. I don't have a tow package either. I added a Draw Tite receiver.
Even though we don't have a tow package, you can still use the Ford App to check trailer lighting, and set up trailer parameters in the SYNC display. The truck will recognize when a trailer is connected, and disable cross traffic alert, BLISS, and reverse sensors.

Mobile service did mine during my oil change and rotation... I'm near Golden, CO.
