Hey Y'all,

I was wondering if any of y'all have found a place to store your rifle in the ranger. I have a 16.5in barrel rifle that I would like to keep in my truck... I haven't found a place that would keep it accessible and secure... I was thinking about mounting locking clips to the side space next to my back seats (the gap between the door and the seat)... that has been my best idea so far. I would put it under/behind my back seats but right now I keep a KARGA shelf seat that doesn't allow for me to open the seats... I was wondering if anyone had suggestions/experiences with this... Thanks for any help that y'all can provide..

This is a very American question.

As far as location goes, my only thought is behind the back seat, which you mentioned isn't accessible right now. How about a sealed locking case bolted into the side of the bed?

I don't keep firearms in my vehicles, I just transport them and take them out at my destination. So, I haven't had to look into it deeply.

Is this for defence, or the nice buck you might spot in a field on your way home? You'll want it more accessible for defence, obviously.

I do like the bed idea… the goal is for a quick option to grab the gun and go/do whatever needs to be done. The only issue with the bed is I have my tuck built as a chase/gear truck for when I go off-roading so I keep a lot of tools etc in the bed.

I keep thinking about mounting one of those weatherproof hard plastic rifle cases yhat have the pad lock loops all around them to the overland rack right outside the rear driver side door.

I have seen a nunber of people do that to carry different things

I still think behind the rear seat back is the best for quick access, but sounds like not an option for you. This was in a previous vehicle, a Tundra. Had a piece of paracord across to both seat releases for the seat and could give it one pull to bring the seat back down.

I can always take out what is blocking the seat… just want to see what everyone does so I can get ideas of what to do

I wish I had that much room behind my back seat.
Too tight for that.

I like this option for back of the seat

an overhead rack like this might also be an option.

I haven’t used either one, but I think I might give the seat back one a try.

I don't have a Decked bed storage system in the Ranger, but I have had them in a couple of other trucks.

They completely change the bed, of course, so it may make your truck less usable, or more. I wouldn't go that route to solve just the specific problem of storing a firearm, but they are secure and waterproof. If you're thinking about a bed storage system already, that would immediately offer a solution.
