My dealer got 2 or 3 Ranger Raptors. They thought they were only getting one but Ford gave them more.
Damn that's nice.

The 2-3 orders are interesting, when I originally started calling around, I had a dealer claim they were getting 2, they were getting 1 for the main lot and 1 for another lot down the street they used for used cars only

I talked to my dealer today and they already have one scheduled for someone else which means I'm SOL for at least another full year. I may break down and get a ZR2/AT4X at this point. I don't want to wait that long for another truck.

From reading your posts, you are getting the shaft left and right! I've called around in my area out of curiosity sake (Southern Idaho) and a few dealers have offered an RR at 5k ADM. I'm sure you have allready done this, but have you expanded your search. I know the window is closing, but there may be some chance?

Yeah, I called like 80 dealers within driving distance when the order banks first opened. I just refuse to pay ADM out of principal. Yes, it will be harder to find one, and I may end up not getting a Ranger at all. Although I want a RRaptor as bad as anyone; I'm not going to support greedy dealers.

The GM twins and new Tacomas are very good trucks and wouldn't disappoint no matter what fanboys of any one truck say.

I am kind of in the same boat. But could be the same issues with getting a ZR2 now. If you order one now, its almost like the same as waiting for a RR. I was also looking into getting a Bronco, but we all know how that is. Best option could be just to wait it out.

I have a friend that ordered a new ZR2 at the first week of March, dealer told him he would have a VIN & build date by mid May & have the truck by mid June. He still doesn’t have a VIN or build date so needless to say he isn’t very happy with GM at all.

And what principal is that?

All I am saying is this particular principal may be nothing more than mislabled stubbornness. Value is in the eye of the beholder. You know what I think is infinitely more retarded than $5,000 ADM? People who spend $5,000 on a watch when the $5 Walmart special I have been using at my job for 5 years is still working fine. Its been soaked in water, banged against countless objects and it functions just fine. I would never spend that kind of money on a watch, but I also understand the people who do are nothing more than gatekeepers to their own standards.

People need to stop using the word "principal". It would be 100% more logical if people said, "I just don't see the value in the Ranger Raptor for the extra $5,000." How does someone argue that statement? They can't, because value is determined by the buyer.

Like when someone asks, "Why did you spend $5,000 more on the Raptor?" and my response is "Because I can." It could be what we would call an affirmative defense (metaphorically) in my world. It is a defense for which no rebuttal can win.

Generally something labeled as a principal is something with noble connotations. "I order 4 tires and they accidently send me 8 tires. I need to call them back and see if they want these extra tires back". That would be a good example of a personal principal. I actually had that happen to be once. Ordered a few cases of ammo and they accidently sent me a duplicate order. I called them, they sent me an RMA, and I shipped it back.

The only way you "win" (for lack of a better description) is not to buy an RR at all, because if you wait you are going to be paying more in the future than now without ADM coming into play.

curious exactly how you KNOW this for a fact? Personally driven them all? Read multiple test reports and comparisons? Video shootouts by knowledgeable reviewers or ?

im guessing he hasn't read the newest thread on the GM forums where all the new trucks are dying randomly and battery tests aren't giving any clues as to what the issue might be.

ive seen nothing but significant issues since the GM twins rollout earlier this year. not sure i'd call that a good truck just yet.

This whole thing is one big emotional rollercoaster! I was told that an order was already scheduled. I later found out that the order that was scheduled was my stock build so as of now, I have a build date in September. I'm trying to not get overly excited about it until it's in my hands because it seems every week something changes.

This sucks. I'm tired of seeing every manufacture jerk customers around. If Toyota pulls through when they say they will, that's about all anyone needs to do anymore to take all the customers.

We live in 2023. All car manufacturers know what they are doing now. Even Hyundai is killing it these days. I don't need to drive the truck to know it's good, just look at the stats. I've seen plenty of reviews on the GM twins and everyone says they are good. Toyota is Toyota and won't release a garbage product. As much as we like to bag on the last gen Tacomas, they are still a solid, good truck. Of course we are all playing the safe bet that the new Ranger is good without driving it.

These are first-run issues that can happen with anything. They'll all get figured out under warranty. What makes a truck good is the capability and how comfortable and enjoyable it is to drive. I had a Tacoma when they were seen as the most reliable truck you could buy. I had issues the first 5k miles where I had to drive a Prius loaner for a week while they figured it out. Every manufacturer goes through this and I'm not going to hold it against GM.

Even the new Rangers were getting stories in Australia where bad things were happening with them.
