This news makes me happy that I did not buy a left over ‘24, although that could have saved me a significant amount of money.
I should be picking up my new 2025 Ranger XLT with the new 2.3 this week, so I am excited about this new engine revision. I hope that it proves to be powerful and reliable!

I think its awesome that ford corrected the fuel injection system so no more valve coking.

I specifically bought the 2.3 because i have had the old ones and they were solid engines that would run forever. I think this will be the same way, especially after having the 2.0 in the focus st and the escape titanium
Was there really a problem? 5g Ranger didn’t seem to have many problems, neither the mustang or the explorer or the bronco.

Thanks maus. I have been driving a 2017 Ram hemi that I bought new and has never been back to the dealer for an issue so I am a little nervous. If it has the new (to the Ranger) engine with the port and direct injection that will be a nice bonus that I didnt know about when I ordered it in Nov.
Cherish your Ram. My 24 Ranger has been in the shop for warranty repair more than all my previous vehicles combined. It's a great platform, just shotty QC. I hope yours is better.

Thanks Dan. I just read through your old posts and you have had a time of it. They sold my Ram in 2 days after I traded it. No issues so far with this one so we will see. I hope you have a good outcome.

I am not sure apecifically to the ranger but i know valve coking is an issue on direct injection engines. How soon the effects are seen, who knows

My new 2025 Ranger XLT with the new 2.3 motor has so far proven to be much more powerful than I expected. I have been looking for hp/torque comparisons between the ‘24 and ‘25 motors, but I have been unable to find anything like that…

Its all hush hush from Ford on this. I know it makes more power than the 24's, I can feel it particularly on the low end. It may be the twin scroll turbo.

Yep, Ford didn't even announce that the 2025 Ranger was scheduled to get a new and updated 2.3 and they still advertising it with the same HP and Torque as the outgoing but it would be great if the numbers are higher.

I would love to see a drag race between the 24 and 25 2.3 after they are broken in.

Likely so that it does not hinder the sales of current inventory. I know I would wait for a 25 and pass on the 24 if I was currently looking to buy.

I knew they upgraded it in the Mustang, then the Bronco for 25 and assumed it had to be in the Ranger too. Did some research before buying and that’s why I made sure to get a 25. Plus not like they were marking 24s down any less. It’s also why i got a 2.7 in my 23 Bronco. Didn’t wanna deal with Direct injection only problems.

I’m not sure why this engine “better” as of now there is no updated power numbers provided just speculation. Maybe the “old” 2.3 is better? It’s tunable and is a proven reliable engine.

Sure there is nothing wrong with the old 2.3. It’s been pretty reliable over the years. But the new integration of port injection better twin scroll turbo and electric waste gate netted more hp on the Mustang. I’d imagine they didn’t make the changes to make it worse.
