Good morning, first time poster so mods please direct my post if not in the right place. I purchased a new 2025 ranger lariat 2.7 from a local ford dealer in april 2025. I noticed when I was cleaning the car that they unfortunately put one of the lojack devices hardwired into the wiring under my drivers side obd port area with a splice connector. I was specific when purchasing I did not want it on there and why I bought it is was still on the pdi lot with no dealer adds at the time, or so I thought. So I called the dealer and they agreed to remove the tracker when I came in for my 5k service, which they removed it and repaired the wires with a ford kit, they did the brake boost update, and changed oil/rotated tires.

I didn't notice driving initially but after not having music in the car, noticed almost a cricket sound chirp. It gradually dissipates the longer I drive. Again I originally thought this was only when the car was on, but I was in the garage and heard it with the car off. Not sure what it can be if anyone has an ideas. In the video there is an initial click then toward the end a louder two click. Thank you all for the consideration.

Mine is doing the same thing and the dealer couldn’t figure it out. At first they said they couldn’t hear it, then when they could hear it, they only said “there are no codes and the brakes are functioning normally”

I fell like with how much we paid for these we shouldn’t just have to tolerate a random noise appearing after a software patch to fix a recall

It sounds like it’s coming from the brake booster.

if you just open the door with the truck off and tap the bakes, when you let all the way off it will chirp after a couple seconds, it will only do this a certain number of times before it stops until the truck is left off for a few minutes.

if you do it with the hood popped, you can hear it coming from that brake booster area

Only you, and one other person have mentioned this issue, but it seems like it’s just started, right around the brake booster recall fix.

If you figure it out please let me know, it’s dr

My 2025 ranger does the same thing. The chirping noise comes from the brake booster area and can be heard in the cab for the first five minutes of my drive. I took it to my local dealer twice and they said it was normal but I do not agree.

I am glad to see it’s not just me who’s encountering this. Hopefully someone on here will get some answers and pass them along

Appreciated the support feedback to know that I'm not going crazy and this is an possible issue with the booster update. It's been back at my local dealer for 2 days now so I will report back with what they find. I waited a ~few weeks to see if it would eventually reset whatever changed, however it has not.

Mine was not super helpful when I took it in. They did try. But didn’t even see any tech bulletins or any other reports of it. Then again they also tried and failed at fixing a simple door rattle so it may just be a them problem

I’ve noticed the noice too. I didn’t consider the break boost update but it definitely started after that update. It goes away after awhile, but what would even cause that? Doubt the dealer will do anything.

You are all correct, dealer kinda wish-wash on tech couldn’t hear it and backtracked to normal sound? I just don’t understand no sound prior to update and now every time the truck wakes up (doesn’t have to be running) that it “isn’t an issue. Yes it is, I wouldn’t have bought a truck with some strange noise happening. I also have the bronco with same 2.7 and. No issues.

back on topic, I wonder if there is a different reprogram for the 2.3/2.7/3.0 and maybe the dealer just installed the wrong update for the engine? I’m grasping at straws trying to get rid of the noise. Between that and auto start/stop are the two annoying features on this otherwise solid truck. And auto start/stop has their ford ranger dongle coming in the next few weeks 🙌

I have the same issue with the chirping in my 25 Ranger Raptor. Drives me mad. It just started a few weeks ago, which is also when I had the brake recall serviced. Popped my hood to clean the engine bay when the truck had been off since the day before and heard the noise from the same area I hear it when I’m driving. Need a recall fix for the recall, ridiculous.

I contacted corporate ford and they said that noise should not be happening. I have another appointment with my local dealer for the air bag recall and the chirping again. Ford said if they do another no problem found to contact them and they will escalate the issue. Fingers crossed the chirping is driving me nuts!

I scheduled my airbag recall for next week and they are going to look at the noise coming from the brake booster while it’s there. I’ll at least be able to get it documented. The more people with the issue who do the same the faster there will be a solution.

If you get any documentation of what corporate said, or what the problem/fix is if they figure it out, would you mind sharing so I can show my dealer?
