Covering frame tube holes

I was bored and ordered these $11 frame tube hole covers on Amazon. Are the any issues with covering these holes that I should be aware of? Depending on which AI source you search, one said they are fine to cover especially if you live in an area that uses salt on roads and another said they will trap water and shouldn't be covered. Any opinions on them?

I've always felt that air circulation in places like that are less likely to cause rust.
Those types of things usually let moisture in, cause condensation, and are worse than leaving it alone.

My Ranger is under coated and rust proofed. I put the covers on to keep gunk out.

if you look in the tube, like I did on my 2025 xlt, theres a bunch of holes in the bottom of that cross tube. Once I get under coated, I might get a set just to keep majority of silt and fines of road salt out of it, but some is still gunna get in there.

That's my thinking. If there are drain holes, then the covers will be there to keep the solid stuff out.

I put these on my Ranger because my 2014 F150 that I traded in had a similar tube across the top of the frame under the bed and it rotted out bad on the passenger side (probably from all the crud they put down here during the winter). I figured it couldn't hurt.

How about using the covers but say drill a small hole or two in them to allow air to circulate

I bought those as soon as I got the truck and installed them. I just want to keep junk from going in and maybe getting stuck, like rocks or something. Anyways, there are holes on top of that cross bar too, as well as underneath so Water will drain out easily. But, it also gets in easily because of the top holes

This is my thought as well. Rust scares the **** out of me.
