Disabling start stop

I have a 24 Lariat, I also had a 23 and a 22, I could disable the start stop feature by just unclipping the wire jack on the battery post terminal, had no negative effect, just kept the engine running instead of on off. I just tried to do the same thing on my 24 and it did not seem to have the same effect of disabling the start stop. does anyone know if I unplugged the wrong jack from the battery?

It is reported as no longer working that way on the 24.
The best bet is to install the 4DTech eliminator.

Ditto on 4D Tech - a little difficult for me to get connector disconnected - just stay with it - took me about 30 minutes before I could do "the happy dance"

Have you guys tried the hack of plugging an LED nightlight into the rear 120v outlet? I saw several posts on earlier Rangers that this worked. One guy just sprayed the light black to cover the light.

Neat little mod. Doesn't disable start/stop, but it does recall your dash button selection for the start/stop system. I'm not a fan of start/stop, and who know, maybe someone could prefer to have start/stop function occasionally.

At $99 with plug and play, I'd roll with one.

Not to hijack this thread, but has anybody had any issues when taking your truck to the dealership with any type of start/stop eliminator installed? I ask because we have a Forester and I was told by a service writer on the sly to remove it before we left it for service or they may find some issue with our extended warranty.

For this type of eliminator, its not reprograming anything, its just clicking the button for you on start up basically because it memorizes the configuration.

Subaru of America is pretty aggressive with denying warranty claims in general. Look on NASIOC and stuff, youll see all kinds of posts about issues with Subaru Warranty stuff. This eliminator should be fine. Obviously if you were having some electrical issue or issue with stop start, removing this would be the first thing to do, but its just a pass through cable basically, so youll be fine.

There maybe some odd instances, but premature worn out starters is not really a thing in vehicles designed with it from the beginning. They actually beef up the starters and take that into account for duty cycle ratings.

Coming from the Jeep world with the Wrangler JL staring in 2018 and a Jeep Gladiator in 2019 having a start/stop system, worn starter replacements are pretty much unheard of. Now batteries is a different story.

That's a good point, but I normally turn it off when I start the truck.
