sure since some owners have reported this cropping up after awhile, there is no guarantee it won’ crop up for anyone

and as pointed out, the part is out of stock, so guessing there might be a demand for replacing it

and we don’t really know what the problem is

yes, I think we all should be concerned
Being out of stock doesn't necessarily mean there is a high demand for them. It could be that there was never any stock allotted for replacements with all available parts going into new builds.

sure that is possible

but it is the just one little check mark ✔ in the clues that this might be a real problem

and more widespread than we would like to believe

ive been through several issues that were first pointed out on forums and it always starts out with some people never having the problem and chiming in

but often in the end it is found out it is a lot more wide spread and systematic than we would like to believe

forums are an imperfect way of looking at this while a random defect can be expected, this seems to be a trend

and again, typically if you start seeing this amount of chatter in forums or reviews, there is something to it

If everyone is wondering, please go to on this forum. 2024 and 2025 if anyone has seen their mode shift on its own please post here. Folks if you are one of the lucky ones this may not apply, but BEWARE. At a stop sign it went into full rock crawl all wheel low 4 wheel drive. I pulled over and watched as my camera came on showing front then back views. All by itself. I switched it back and called ford. Well there is no idiot light no computer faults. So now it sits at the dealer. Let me tell you, if my wife was driving she would have drove it home with it in crawl tearing up the drive line in the process. With no record of this can you imagine the fight with ford. I rest my case. This is not to be taken lightly

I’m sorry to hear you’re not happy with your raptor, but the subject of the post seems a bit over the top. I can’t speak for what percentage of folks have a problem with drive modes changing, but nobody who buys a Ranger built after Sep 12 2024 has the jbrace issue.

‘24 Raptor owner, 16,000+ miles, had the drive mode shift on its own for the first time a couple months ago, nothing since. Was kind of unnerving, nothing was anywhere near the shifter. Luckily I was just in a parking lot as it ended in Rock crawl mode.

I have had mode shifted on me twice. Now that I think about it, both times I was driving on the same road, almost the same place. Maybe it is certain vibration (or potholes, etc) that is causing it to shift by itself?

About 19k miles on mine and I've had the phantom shift maybe twice. One time I had touched the wheel, but had not spun it in either direction. I was wondering if the electrical current from my hand sparked a change in someway.

The other time I had stopped at a light and it shifted to another drive mode on its own. Haven't seen the problem since and that was a few thousand miles ago.

I feel for those that have had issues with their trucks. I have been fortunate to have had my 24 Raptor for 11 months and 8,000+ miles and have never had the drive mode shift on its own.

Has anyonw tried unplugging that rotary shifter just ro see if it stops? That would verify if its the switch or not.

Have a 2024 xlt.
Went to town the other day and when I was coming home I looked down and the truck was in 4 HI.
I am almost certain that I did not put it in 4 HI.

It happens parked, as well, and on various roads, in my experience.

It's easy for people to dump on someone who's angry with their vehicle and/or Ford, in general; but when this starts happening, it's absolutely unacceptable, and it doesn't seem to matter how many trouble free miles someone's experienced before it begins.

It's going to cause a very dangerous condition off road or a collision on road eventually, if it hasn't already.

It can eaily cause somekne to lose control and get in an accident. And can over rev the engine causing internal damage or over torque the transfer case internals

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, and not that it makes the random shifting ok, but the vehicle won’t shift into rock crawl over 20 mph or something, right?
