2.7L… have managed 500 miles on highway driving. Moderate speeds 60-72 mpg. Some city driving with stopping/idle. Flat highways with warmer temps. 18.2 gals at fill up so yes tank about empty. DTE-1
That has nothing to do with the DTE calculation issue we are having.

Congrats on the fuel mileage, though.

Local offroad shop in Denver quoted 6-7hrs of labor which came to $1300 to install it.
I've installed similar tanks in 3 hours. I would expect a good shop with experience to estimate 4 hours. A shop that is doing it for the first time 6+ hours.

Sounds like you just have to use the hash marks in the gas gauge, like the old days.

It will be annoying seeing the dte numbers and knowing they mean nothing. Maybe you can turn dte off in forscan?

It can’t be turned off.

I am annoyed that they present it as a finished product with a solution for the DTE calculation. Wouldn’t be as big a deal if you didn’t have to cut parts up on your OEM tank for the install.

We don't have access with forscan but have you tried your local Ford dealer to see if they can do it? I want this tank but I'm not getting it w/o the DTE working correctly as advertised.

As far as I am aware, there isn’t an option in the fdrs software to adjust it.

It's odd that DTE can't seem to be adjusted in North American trucks. It seems pretty straightforward and easy with the ones down under. 🤔
the long ranger 140l tanks aren’t sold here. We get a smaller tank from long ranger America that is produced by long range automotive in Australia. Since the long ranger tanks are distributed through ARB and offered as dealer add ons down there, I believe you guys get a 140l tank option in fdrs. I don’t think we have that option for the 136 or so l tank LRA sells.

I have been seraching high and low for Poly version for Gas US built trucks, not finding anything.
Only Poly tank I can find states Diesel fuel only.
Anyone know why that is?

Here are some educated guesses why:

They would be much more expensive. They would have to develop molds for every single tank style rather than just have a water jet cut the parts out of aluminum sheet. R&D costs and the mold costs would have to be recouped. Molded parts cost WAY more to make up front.

Using a poly tank would constrain the tank design to have the same dimensions at the bottom that the OEM tank has or would require all new tank mounting straps and skid plate. Not ideal.

A plastic tank might not handle the weird tank shape required for the extra capacity. My tank goes over the driveshaft and has other weird dimensions designed to make the best use of space possible.

I was thinking one it would look more OEM if in poly, and two I was concerned that every pebble flying off the tires and bouncing off the tank would make a lot of racket.

That is sort of in a nutshell why I would prefer a poly tank.

I was sort of curious if they just labeled them Diesel only because all Rangers in those countries are diesel of if there was a reason they would not fit or work on gas US spec truck.
