Following all of the other threads in this category and here is my data point.

Was a bit surprised with the comments from the oil analysis company, but wanted to share.

I agree

Note the baseline in the report is for the next oil change (~5000miles)

That is why I did my first one at 157 miles and our second at 2656 miles. After that it will now be every 5,000 miles. I like your choice in oil.

Hey there. Great info, thanks for sharing!
I’m at 873 miles in two weeks! I need to get my oil changed!
where do you take it and how do you get that report if you don’t mind me asking?

Since I use Amsoil products I ordered their test kits https://www.amsoil.com/search/#q=Test&t=totalProductsTab&sort=relevancy&numberOfResults=20

But there are several other companies that do the same thing. Blackstone is one of them and you can search the other threads to see what names they are. If your going to have someone change yours, take a small clean container (3 to 4 oz in size and ask them to capture a sample for you to send out

Hope this helps

Thanks for sharing, it's always interesting to see and compare oil samples.
Further confirmation an early initial oil change is a good idea.

Although it does make me curious what 7,500 mile (from new) oil sample would look like.

I read/saw somewhere that after an oil/filter change that the engine should be cranked over for about 10 seconds WITHOUT starting and running. To do this, push the accelerator pedal to the floor....step on the brake with the other foot.....then push the start button. Sure enough, the engine will turn over and not fire.

Just did my 500 mile oil change yesterday and that oil plug.........yeah........that oil plug is interesting.

Update 5000 miles 2nd change: The filter was dark, the oil was a light to mid brown, still could see through it, but glad I'm changing it. I'll see what the Horizon Oil Analysis says when they get the sample. 4500 on this filter.

Interesting, so on the whole - numbers have improved since the 500mi oil change. Good to see and validates the early change since there was a higher incident of fuel dilution in the early oil sample vs now. Thanks for posting this!

Changed again at 9100, found some metal bits in the filter. Will see what the oil analysis report says when that comes back!

So, now I have to learn a bit more about oil I guess! Here is the latest report at 9K miles.

After a long, cold winter and too much idling, I'm sticking with the ~5K-mile oil change. This one is right at 4745, and though I could see through the oil stream with a flashlight, I think it was time. Will post the oil report once it returns from analysis. Good news this time, I could not find any shiny bits in the filter.
