Anyone ever experience your drive mode randomly switching while driving? I was on the highway and had to adjust my side mirrors and as soon as I finished with the mirror buttons on the door I noticed my drive modes cycling on the driver screen, I saw Off-Road and then Rock Crawl and I freaked out seeing as my hand was no where near the mode selector, so I quickly selected Sport mode with the mode selector. I wonder if there is a sensitivity issue, like stick drift in an accelerometer. I swear I saw this once before and just thought maybe I'd bumped the selector.

Just curious if anyone else has see this.

I remember that the RR I drove at the Raptor Assault had a bit of ghost to it. Turned out someone on the trip before us had spilled soda on the selector and it was sticking at times.

This seems to be happening to many folks, including myself. Appears to be some type of software glitch.

Someone needs to add a Ghost mode - all lights go dark, no brake lights, engine goes whisper quiet.

Mine "tried" to switch to Baja mode (it can't while doing 48mph). With the fish eye camera lens it looked like the vehicles coming at me were going to hit me head on. ?

Looks like it was trying to switch to Rock Crawl not Baja. It should have been able to switch to Baja at that speed. The Rock Crawl was trying to engage 4L.

This has happened to me several times, this past weekend it switched to paddle shift when getting on the freeway luckly I caught it before it reved to 4000rpm. At a stop light it went to 4x4 rock crawl. Then my screen started viewing front then rear. At first I thought I touched something. But not this time. I had to pull over and reset everything. You know that this could ruin our trucks. Reving too high, being on the wrong surface in some 4x4 modes. Call it ghost mode, but this is serious $#!+. Does Ford know bout this or they just going to blame covid?

They know, but they haven't done anything about it, yet. I've gone quite a bit of the way up the food chain, and I'm going to chase it as far as I can but, if there's no resolution soon, I'll have to get rid of the truck.

It's a dangerous fault. They've stated directly to me that they don't take forums seriously. Those were their official words on the matter; but I figure if we gather enough people, someone will have it happen on a dealership drive.

That's the only way they're going to listen. It's important to get on the horn with Ford customer service, as well as bring it to the dealership in the hopes it will happen on their drive.

The problem will be replicating the issue. It has been quite a while since it's happened to me. It doesn't throw a code. If a tech looked at it they would not find anything wrong and would have to keep the vehicle and drive it until it happens. And even then it might require a more technical team to decipher and diagnose.

My best guess is it could be similar to stick drift from a PlayStation controller. Or it could be some sort of interference. 🤷‍♂️ We just don't know. And dealership mechanics likely won't know what to do about it until they are able to experience it first hand..

Called ford about this just to stir the pot. They lady went into my account by the vin. She noticed a code fault U014 it’s a module that works with all the electrical communication between everything lights, doors… so I guess I’ll be taking it to the dealership. Hell mine only has 2000 miles. Have never put it through all its modes. Note this code is not anywhere on the dash. To the dealer I go, NEWS at 11:00

Interested to see what you find, I’ve had this happen several times, sometimes just randomly driving and a few times after a hard acceleration into a turn.

I've noticed a trend lately. My Yeti water bottle seems to trigger it, but seemingly randomly. It happens sometimes when I place the Yeti into the rear most cup holder, closest to the drive mode selector. It has a very positive snug fit. I'll take the water bottle out while I'm driving, take a drink, replace the bottle into the cup holder, and the drive mode changes- just keeps moving all the way to the last mode. I usually switch the mode back and then immediately remove and replace the water bottle again, and it happens again. I repeat for a third time but the issue doesn't replicate the third time.

I pretty much always have this water bottle with me so I'm always placing it in the cup holder and removing it. Happens totally randomly. Sometimes I purposely try to get it to switch by placing the water bottle in and out of the cup holder but it never seems to work that way.

Water bottle is supposedly 18/8 stainless steel, however I place a magnet on it and it sticks pretty good. So it could be a magnetic field issue. It could also be something with the holding tabs of the cup holder making contact with wiring of the drive mode selector. I really don't feel like taking the center console apart just yet to investigate further.

Interesting. I took mine in and they had it for 2 weeks and finally they got it to replicate the issue. They ordered a new switch and told me the engineers are working on a software update for it as well. In the meantime, my truck hasn't done it since I got it back which has been about a month now. I'll repost when I take it in. I think the switch came in.
