Hoping to buy (order) next year.
Do you like your 2.7?
Decent mileage?
Great acceleration?
Any problems?
Thanks for your time…
I had a 2016 Lariat with the older version of the 2.7. I loved that motor, it had plenty of power and delivered great gas mileage. The rear axle was a 3.55, FX4, 6 speed automatic and weighted approximately 4900 pounds. I don’t know why they are putting a 3.73 axle in the Ranger, other than that’s what they are putting in all the Rangers ( other than the Raptor). I just imagine a Ranger that weighs about 3 to 4 hundred pounds less than a F150 would get great fuel efficiency if it had the 3:55, or the 3.23 axle plus a smaller footprint. I would pull my 4000 boat and trailer with no issues, and a close friend still has a 2016 F150 XL sport with the 3:23 axle and he had no problem with pulling my boat. I would regularly get 23 highway and 17-18 city. I really think Ford dosent want the 2.7 getting better mileage than the 2.3.Hoping to buy (order) next year.

My Ranger with 2.7 was order in June 14, scheduled for production August 12. Wonder how long it will take to be built and delivered. Looking forward to getting it.The first 2.7L engines in a Ranger are still listed as in transit to dealers. Those trucks may even still be at the factory and not even built. My dealer in Ohio has one listed on their website as “in transit,” but the window sticker generator has a Blend Date of 8/2. That truck is on the final assembly line as I type this, so it’s definitely not “in transit.”
Drive the Bronco with the 2.7L if you‘re curious, it will be similar.
