Do you like your 2.7?

Great acceleration?
Any problems?

Thanks for your time…

The first 2.7L engines in a Ranger are still listed as in transit to dealers. Those trucks may even still be at the factory and not even built. My dealer in Ohio has one listed on their website as “in transit,” but the window sticker generator has a Blend Date of 8/2. That truck is on the final assembly line as I type this, so it’s definitely not “in transit.”

Drive the Bronco with the 2.7L if you‘re curious, it will be similar.

Their Mystical creatures currently on the lot or in customers possession from what I can see. But everything I've read and seen on the later gen 2.7L are their rock solid. A few examples below:

For what it’s worth the 2.7 is amazing in my Bronco. It’s very zippy and I’m getting 23mpg in my 2 door. I have a tune on it and the transmission shifts very fast and has plenty of torque in 4 low off-road. I can bog down the throttle at an idle and go over rocks with ease. I live at 7200ft and some of trails are at over 10k ft.

I had a 2022 F150 4x4 with the 2.7 engine, 3.55 gearing and it was a great combination, I should never have sold it. It had plenty of power and got very good gas mileage (21 mpg) as I recall. I sold it as wanted something smaller and can't say that I am disappointed with the Ranger Lariat as it's turning out to about what I had expected. The dealer told me not to expect any better gas mileage with the Ranger and he was mostly right (my Ranger is averaging a little over 22 mpg). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the 2.7 engine but for me I don't feel the need for more power in the Ranger. The Ranger with the 2.7 engine will be a rocketship in the Ranger.

I had a 2016 Lariat with the older version of the 2.7. I loved that motor, it had plenty of power and delivered great gas mileage. The rear axle was a 3.55, FX4, 6 speed automatic and weighted approximately 4900 pounds. I don’t know why they are putting a 3.73 axle in the Ranger, other than that’s what they are putting in all the Rangers ( other than the Raptor). I just imagine a Ranger that weighs about 3 to 4 hundred pounds less than a F150 would get great fuel efficiency if it had the 3:55, or the 3.23 axle plus a smaller footprint. I would pull my 4000 boat and trailer with no issues, and a close friend still has a 2016 F150 XL sport with the 3:23 axle and he had no problem with pulling my boat. I would regularly get 23 highway and 17-18 city. I really think Ford dosent want the 2.7 getting better mileage than the 2.3.

My Ranger with 2.7 was order in June 14, scheduled for production August 12. Wonder how long it will take to be built and delivered. Looking forward to getting it.
