I added the fodd engine cover for my 2.3.

It's made out of a foam material.

Definitely quiets down the noisy engine.

Great job, you gave the little critters somewhere to call home.
Your wires are going to hate you.

I wouldn't worry about critters under your engine cover. It's mostly just a topper to the engine without hidden cavities for things to hide.

They removed them in 2022 for better airflow/cooling.
They removed them like every other manufacturer, except for some top trims, to save money. Cars with appearance covers were never overheating. That fraction of an inch extra between the engine and hood without an appearance cover makes no difference at all. The cover also protected sensors and connectors from accumulating dirt and water intrusion.

Aren’t they still standard on Lariat trims?

Only Lariats ever had them. Just a cheap out issue, no effect on either. The 2.3 is a little clattery, so probably helps a bunch, just don't see $200 plus another 20 for studs.

I like the look, I think I paid Levitt $138 & shipping. Still not cheap.

My 2018 F-150, 2.7, had them, and my 2022 F-150, 2.7, didn't have them. I heard the reason was for more airflow. So I was just putting that out there. I have no facts on that, just someone on these threads told me that and it sounded like a just reason. I do like it more now that I can see everything instead of wondering what's underneath my cover?

This is for the 2.3. Never heard of any cooling or hotspot issues, i was in the 5g forum back in 2020. Had a '20 FX2. I'd like to ad one, but can't justify the cost. ?
