Intelligent speed control making me irritated.

Despite my having no interest in having or using it, my Ranger has the sign reading feature that will change the cruise speed without my input. It is ridiculous to be going a few mph over the speed limit (in line with the traffic flow) and suddenly the vehicle slows down. And it is not a gradual slow down, but a major shut down. In most cases, it is not a change in the road speed, but just passing a sign. And sometimes it sees signs that are not even there. What happens when somebody is tailgating me, and this happens? I almost was hit in the rear while passing a semi, doing 86 in a 80 mph zone when this happened. How the BS do you turn this off? I have found nothing in the manual that addresses this issue.

There is a toggle to turn off the speed sign recognition in the adaptive cruise control setting. I prefer to adjust the speed to what is reasonable and prudent (our highway speed limit law) myself. Been working for me so far.

Speed limit assist and lane centering are options that are enabled with advanced cruise control.

should be off by default. I could see that would be a nice prank to play by enabling it on someone’s ranger……

I really like speed sign recognition. But I have everything else turned off, the only thing the truck is allowed to do with it is display it on the cluster. Not even a beep....
I will probably never turn on adaptive cruise and lane centering etc. because I am a Luddite....

You've never used the adaptive cruise? This is the first vehicle I've owned that has it and I love it. It's sooooo convenient. Get out on the highway, set the cruise for 73mph (65 zone) and truck takes care of the rest no matter what happens with the flow of traffic.

I'm pretty much the same. But if you get stuck in bumper to bumper, adaptive cruise can be pretty nice.

I actually did use lane assist a lot, it was actually useful. If I had known then that it has lane centering if I enable ACC I might have liked that better. But my normal driving doesn't really offer much opportunity to test it....

Guess I'm just going to have to go out and drive more... Oh the sacrifice...

Mine will nudge left or right if I get on the line while not in cruise control. I also see it on the screen in what I like to call the driver information center (DIC), lower right near the speed limit sign. Wonder why they don’t use that acronym. It shows which line I’m hugging.

I didn't either until recently when I learned about on here!
Turns out if you enable ACC in your truck settings, more menu options show up. Not sure which models, but on mine anyway there is both lane assist (nudges you back into your lane if you get too close to the lines) and also lane centering which attempts to keep you centered in your lane.

The annoying thing about lane centering is the constant warning to put keep your hands on the steering wheel, even when they are on there. I read (maybe here) that the steering wheel doesn't have sensors and you have to move the steering wheel a little to get the truck to realize your holding on.

Do you guys have the issue when using ACC that your lane keeping cancels itself often? I think it's because the roads I've used it on so far have had fading lane paint and it gets momentarily lost, but it's super irritating that it'll cancel itself and have the nerve to ding at me like I did something.
