Is a screen protector worth it?

Not noticeably, and I put it on too late, I have a tiny pinpoint divot that would not be there if I had a protective film.

Hey guys. Thinking about throwing on a screen protector on my Raptor Ranger. Just not sure if it really needs it as I’ve never had a screen protector on any other screen I’ve had in my cars. Looking for thought and opinions. Thanks in advance!

They are really cheap (Amazon), so no reason not to. Plus dust is abrasive, settling on the screen and then touched or swiped with finger will cause scratches eventually.

I put one on mine. I just parked it and had a lot of glare from the sun. I should have paid more attention and got a matte one. Other than the glare i forgot it was there and no change to the sensitivity. I did see some people saying it caused the screen to overheat in certain vehicles. I haven't noticed that in my ranger. The protectors cost about $25. Might as well try it and if you end up not liking it and taking it off you are only out $25.

Just a small spritz/mist of distilled water and a quick wipe with a microfiber cloth to deal with the fingerprints for me.

The reason you want a screen protector is because there is a permanent plastic layer installed on top of the glass from the factory that you can’t remove. It’s there to keep shards of glass from flying out in a collision.
Unfortunately that plastic layer is also extremely soft and susceptible to scratches even from a microfiber cloth. You just can’t see the scratches unless you shine a flashlight at the screen at the right angle, until they eventually get bad enough.

My recommendation is to put a protector on.

Hmm, fair enough. The cost is negligible and if I hate it, not like I can’t take it off. I’ll give it a whirl and see.

My OCD Plug is Matt finish. It cut way down on glare and finger prints. Not touch sensitive. Works great. One thing I noticed is that on cloudy days the F150 screen will go into night mode at times and turn darker but I also have XPEL window film so that might do it. Still works fine. No problem in full or partial sun.
