Here they are on my tuck. First photo is stock but with the metal cut out (you do this to feed up the backing you screw the side bolts into). Second is with the j brace installed.

Hardest part of the install is removing / peeling back a part of the fender guard (on ranger raptor, other trims this is either not needed or way easier, the raptor has a fabric liner that is secured under the fender guard).

For cutting the metal, I used an oscilating multi-tool with titanium blade. Cut through it like butter and was super easy.

I was in for a sensor issue and I asked them check it at that time. I think it totally depends on the dealer. I tried to make an appointment at a different dealer and they said they would not do it as a recall unless I bought an aftermarket accessory from them such as a canopy or bed cover. Complete BS…..
I was told the ssme thing when I inquired about it. I was not happy with there customer service.

It looks like this was a customer satisfaction program 23P22. It says it ends 7/31/25. It says it covers installation for trucks that purchased ford accessory bed cap. I don't know if trucks without that will be covered, I guess they won't. I'm going to call my dealer Monday. Look up the CSP and read it.

I read the same thing. Kind or irritating! I hope ford does the right thing and makes this an official recall!!

They clearly know it was a problem since they fixed it in production during 2024. It's ridiculous to make the early buyers of the truck have to get a bed cap in order for them to fix the truck. They didn't require all the new trucks to get a bed cap. Ford screwed up, now they are screwing us.

For those of you have a 2024 Ranger missing the updated bed frame support, I got some good news today. I brought my Ranger in for an oil change and asked them to check the bed frame support while the truck was on the lift. When the truck was ready, a service tech told me my truck "failed" the bed support check and they were ordering the parts. It would be fixed free of charge because of the recall. NOW, I was surprised there was a recall because I checked two weeks ago for any recalls using my vin# and Ford said there were no recalls on my truck. So it might be worth a visit to your dealer and have them check. I have a feeling Ford is hoping owners don't bother to check.
Thanks so much for the info on the j-brace. I did not recieve a specific recall notification from Ford. Did what you guys suggested by going to the Ford recall site you guy's posted. Made an appointment with my dealer and they're going to install the j-brace on Friday.
Thanks again for the info.

I just checked in the Ford app under make service appointment with my dealer. There is a load box reinforcement kit installation listed under the recall and campaigns tab. It says $0.00. I just booked an appointment online with the dealer for this. I set it for August 9th. Hopefully it will get done, or I guess I'll get a call saying yes or no. Fingers crossed.
Did they do the recall? They told me it is only for ppl with a bed cap and wont do it.

No they won't do it without a bed cap. I called and the service rep said it's only for people that purchased a Ford bed cap accessory. So I'm out of luck. I'll have to buy the j brace and do it.

I'm not understanding why everyone without a Ford bed cap wants to install these? I'll bet 90% of these trucks are mall crawlers and never used in "extreme off-road conditions" much less with a Ford bed cap.

Because we can't install any cap, ladder rack, tent, etc without them.

Why should we be forced to buy a Ford Canopy? Maybe I want a different brand. Why do you care if you’re not interested in getting the recall done?

Took my truck in last Friday and learned that the customer satisfaction recall for the j-brace is only if you purchase a Ford (tent or I'll call it a topper). They will not just install just the J- braces.

Always some risk of getting first off the line of a new gen (like missing out on the new 2.3L engine), but even without plans for add-ons its still a latent defect that Ford recognized and remediated for the "Job 2" second run of the model year so worth trying to get it covered. Maybe not resale "value" down the road but could turn away a potential buyer if they plan on adding a cap/tent.

I was fortunate.. as of Feb 2025, there was a dozen 2024's left on the lot I went to and my truck was on the J1 side of the cutoff date.. dealer took care of the J-braces to close the sale and move one of the older inventory units. It was also the first they had heard of it..

Where does it say anything about anything other than a Ford specific bed cap? I’m not seeing it.
