Yeah, I think I was the last one to get in at the $244 price. Went up to $754 the day after I ordered it.

Wow, it's absurd watching this happen in real time.

I checked prices today and why tf is Ford straight price gouging on the assembly? Right because they can, but still it really shows how they think with regards to providing customers reasonable value...

I know a good electrician who gets on board with my crazy ideas

Every now and then something goes wrong and we get desperate trying to fix it.

Of course. Later today I'll visit my electrician to deal with another matter and I'll ask him to explain to me or even draw an electrical diagram of how the connection was made and send it here to you guys.
Did you ever get any more info from your electrician? If not even some generic info might help. Are the lights integrated into the truck (e.g. come on when you open the door, or through zone lighting?) or are they on an external/separate switch?

I left my LEDs in when I installed the glove box and driver's side trim hoping to wire them up someday, but the rattling on the driver's side connector is getting to me. Likely just going to remove the whole module this weekend unless I can figure out how to wire them up successfully.

Hi guys. Sorry for taking so long.

So it turns out my electrician explained to me how he did it but it was only generic info, that's why I decided not to bring it to you YET. A friend of mine bought his glovebox thing and will install it anytime soon, so I asked him to let me know when will he take his car to my electrician so I can make a full detailed tutorial with pictures.

But for now, answering your question: the lights are NOT integrated into the truck. At first I had an external switch to turn it on but later we figured out how to connect it with the headlights so it turns on whenever my headlights are turned on (auto mode).

Oh so you also installed the driver's side? I did it as well. It makes the car look WAAAAAY cooler. I recommend you to wait a little longer.

Good news: As i'm answering this I just sent a message to the friend I mentioned above to remind him of taking his car there to install this led and he asked me to schedule with the electrician so he can take his car today or tomorrow. Hope it works out. Let you guys know tomorrow.

Cool! Sounds like I'll give it a little longer, though maybe I'll just duct tape down the connector at least. I can confirm if you leave it loose it rattles like crazy! The passenger side hasn't had that problem since it's clipped in, but the driver's side is loose. (It has a clip on it to mount somewhere in a Lariat, but it didn't seem like I had this in my XLT.)

Definitely glad I did both sides. The leather looks much better, and very glad to have the second glovebox.

theres a blunt cut wire for ignition on called run/start, high beams and marker lights behind the driver kick panel.

my marker light(pos light) and high beam trigger, while the matching colour and label as per the ford body builder guide.... the actual functions were switched. the highbeam wire is my marker. and the marker is my high beam. lol

I think I at least figured out where the connector for the lighting is supposed to go, so solved that problem without needing to tear anything out at least. No more rattles! And looks like I can get to it later without needing to pull the dash again if I do decide to wire it up.

Hi guys.

I have some news. The whole solution for turning these lights on is this little guy: a 1k resistor.

Guys, as promised, here is the diagram:

That negative you can connect to any metallic part (ground) and the positive you can connect to an individual switch or automate it by connecting to this blue wire from the headlight, so it turns the led on everytime my automatic low beam turns on (auto mode).

Some disclaimers:

1- I was not present when he did all this. I got there by the end of the day to have a look and take some pictures for you guys. The diagram he drew later that night:

2- This upper glovebox is the Ranger Raptor model bought in US. The Lariat version can have different wire colors colors but the logic is the same.

3- Speaking of colors, mine upper glovebox came from a brazilian Ranger Limited (Same as Lariat in US) and it has a light blue tone, just like the buttons from the steering wheel, the AC, etc. The Raptor model has regular blue tone.

4- My electrician asked me to tell you guys to test it all on an external source before connecting it to the vehicle to avoid any damage to the car itself.

5- This is the diagram for turning on only the passanger's side. If you did like me and also bought the drivers side, you have to use another resistor. As it has been a long time since he did it, he doesn't remember details on how he did it. It's the same logic.

Hope it helped. :fistbump:

Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing this. I think my next goal is going to be to figure out what those connectors are so that I don't have to cut them off. I know they'll never be compatible with my harness... but I just hate snipping them and killing the possibility of better integrating them in the future if something more integrated comes along. That and figuring out how I want to switch them... I don't really want them on while driving, so headlights are out, I'd probably want them on when the domes come on, but that sounds complicated... Lots to think about!

I have a lariat with the upper glove box and while I really like having two glove boxes, that blue light I never notice.

i have a couple of parking passes that I use and that top glove compartment is perfect for things you use frequently.

my registration, insurance, flashlight, first aid kit are in the bottom glove compartment, easy to access but used infrequently,

I don’t think I would really bother with the lighting. Just a thought.
