My '24 Lariat has Park Assist with the mechanical shifter, so I have to do the shifting. I'm 2 months in the Baltimore area (Mother recovering from MAJOR surgery) and parallel parking endemic here while pull in parking feels significantly narrower than it does in my native environment, Florida. I am using Park Assist on a daily basis for parallel parking into space just larger than the truck and am finding it works superbly, it places the truck about 4-6" from the curb and centers between the front and rear vehicle. I have also used for pull in parking, due to very small clearance parking lots, and "unparking" - again the system works superbly.

Ford pulled the Park Assist from the '25s, they say due to limited use by customers and cost savings. While I think this was a poor decision, considering the software for Park Assist is still on board as are the sensors and electric power steering so have to wonder how this is a cost savings, I am curious to see if others take advantage of this feature.

What does Ford Ranger Best and Brightest think?

To be honest I have not parallel parked in 10 yrs or so 99% parking lots.
I have it but may never use it.

I dont use the parking assist features, or the back up trailer assist functions either. I can back up trailers and parallel park just well enough on my own thank you.

I’ve used park assist several times over the past year, mainly as a novelty to be honest. There really isn’t a lot of parallel parking in my community. It really is amazing how well it functions. Glad it’s there just in case I need it, but I wouldn’t lose any sleep if I didn’t have it.

I think my XLT has this. I don't often parallel park with the truck- if we go into the city we usually take my wife's little Honda. But I mistakenly hit the button the other day and was surprised to see that function come alive. I'll try it one of these days.

I live in a city and love this feature! It just speeds things up and avoids issues in tighter spaces.
how fast does can it park? if it is one of those streets where traffic has to stop and wait while a person parks (one lane each way w/ parallel parking in each direction). Would it work or take forever?

It's really quick once you get used to it.
You turn it on while you're looking for a spot. It continually scans for spots as you drive at your normal pace, and let's you know when there's a space where you'll fit.
Then you just pop it in reverse, take your hands off the wheel and back in. The system moves the wheel for you, but you still need to control the gas and brake pedals. You back up until it tells you to put it in drive to straighten out.
Then you just pop it in drive and repeat (it does the steering, you do the gas and brake pedals).
So in a lot of cases I'd say it's faster than doing it myself. I control the gas/brake so I can go as fast as I want, and I'm more confident that I won't hit anything so I probably go faster than before. There's also less chance of screwing up and having to try again.
The other day it got me into a super tight parallel parking spot that I'd probably skip otherwise. I'm impressed with how well it works.
